Please help a flummoxed SiL buy something lovely for her sister in law. Think an introvert who does understated elegance.

She likes
Roger & Gallet
German / Italian chocolate
Swedish glass
Travel
Fountain pens
Graphic design

Dislikes
Anything garish
Cadbury, Green & Blacks, Hotel Chocolat

I have up to £50 to spend and she gives lovely presents, so ideas gratefully received...

I forgot, she's not keen on scented candles either.

Taschen book on the Bauhaus here

We buy my introverted BIL & SIL board games, jigsaws, lovely photo frames and luxury food/drink. Any good?

Sailor fude de mannen pens are quite interesting. They have angled nibs which are supposed to give a calligraphy effect a bit like a brush pen. Converters and ink selections could also be good, diamine have some lovely understated colours.

Diptyque anything
Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax bath Oil
New Pillowcases

What does she give as presents - can you use that for inspiration- she will buy stuff she likes.

Speaking as a thirty-something introvert I love V&A jewellery, and would also love a personalised notebook so I agree with those suggestions!

I hate receiving toiletries, but go nuts over nice stationery.

Iittala (Finnish glass) and Georg Jensen (Danish) are available at a lot of UK shops such as John Lewis. House Industries does nice graphic design items if you don't mind ordering from the USA.

You lot are good. Pens with angled nibs are on the way and she has Herbin ink, so some of that too.

What does she buy? She's the type who notices. You know, you mention a childhood book you can't quite remember and she finds it. We tend to buy something we know we'd like, so larger box of favourite chocolate or wine. She says she learned present buying from reading Celebrate.
