The only thing DS (11) has asked for is a laptop and I'm really struggling to find one that is suitable for a decent price.

he plays minecraft, roadblox and the sims 4.

I've looked at a lot of different ones but I'm worried about getting one that isn't powerful enough to play the games,
a friend advised me to stay clear of 'chromebook' type laptops as they won't have a graphics card or a hard drive good enough to run the games efficiently.

I'd prefer a 13-14" screen but other than that i am open to suggestions.

I'd prefer to pay something around £250-300

a friend suggested an acer aspire E5-475 but its currently £349 and I don't really want to pay that much.

can anyone recommend anything?
either a deal they have seen or a laptop that they think will be suitable for DS.

Thanks

I play sims 4 and had to recently buy a new laptop. The cheapest gaming one I could find was £600 and that still didn't cover the recommended spec for sims 4. It plays ok though so far.

For the amount you want to spend I would think you'll struggle.

You won't get a gaming laptop for much under £600 ime. The Acer is a bargain depending on the graphics card.

I don't want a gaming laptop, I know those are expensive, but that's not what i want anyway.
He's only 11 and he predominantly just plays minecraft and occasionally roadblox, he has asked for the sims 4 for Christmas.

If i thought he would get the use out of it I would gladly buy him a £XXXX gaming computer, but i know DS, he will either break it or get bored with it and it just isn't worth spending more than £300 on it.

I was looking at just basic 'starter' laptops but it was only when my friend mentioned that most of those cheaper laptops won't have the capability needed for playing games and that i should look for something with a bit more power and a better graphics card.... but i don't know computers at all so i have no idea what to look for.

Really what i was hoping was someone would come on here and say 'ahh yes my DC plays those games on XXXX laptop and it's ideal'
then I'd know what to be looking out for.

Would you consider getting a desktop instead? They tend to have better specs for lower prices, especially if they're custom built. TBH I think you'd struggle getting a laptop that can run Sims 4 decently for that price.

Hi Sparkly!
My husband has the MSI GV62, and he highly recommends it. He also recommends this article that apparently has a few other options too:
