Starter ideas please

I can't think what to do!

I always do a few nibbles & nice canapés with something fizzy rather than a starter which tends to be too much before a big meal. But if you're after a starter maybe soup which can be pre made, salmon or prawns, pate.

We do some pate or baked Camembert with a small salad. Always only a tiny portion and up to an hour before the main event.

Quite retro but we always have a proven cocktail. Nice and light before the big Christmas dinner. It wouldn't be Christmas for us without it!

Hairy bikers new programme had a nice smoked salmon terrine that could be prepared ahead and looked light. It's on iPlayer.
