So, how does The Holiday end?

This film is my guilty pleasure. I wrap the Christmas presents whilst watching it.

I've always wondered how it pans out for the characters. I can see Iris moving to LA and becoming a writer there. But how will it work out with Amanda and Graham? Will be uproot and got to LA too? How will the maternal grandparents feel about a) losing their DD and then b) the grandDD to an 18 hour flight? Will Amanda be able to get Graham a job or will be live in New York?

I know, it's only a film. But I want to know!

I don't think I love it but I am always happy to watch this film when it's on, however I think Kate and jack are so unsuited as a couple!! Every time he hints about spending new year in the U.K. I cringe a bit inside.

Dozer · 08/12/2017 18:48

Kate W just has a fun fling with Jack then gets a better job in London and, in due course, a much better relationship.

Camaron D and Jude date long distance for a while then she takes a big pay cut to move to the UK to be with him, and works in the creative industries in London.

AliceLutherNeeMorgan · 08/12/2017 18:53

I hope Amanda doesn’t continue calling him Gram - he’ll dump her quick as dammit. Which may not be a bad thing for her!

MadMags · 08/12/2017 18:56

Amanda definitely moves to the UK. Who wouldn’t want to live in that house???

She can run her business from there, with occasional travel to LA.

I don’t think Iris and whatever his character’s name is will work out long term!

VanillaMincePie · 08/12/2017 20:23

Wow, completely the opposite of my thoughts! The over acting is awful and I only used to watch it for that bit where Jude Law cries. But now it's a pre-Christmas staple.

Thanks for responding btw 🎅

I just took it that when she cried and got back out of the cab she was accepting a new sort of life. She must know he can’t move his poor, motherless offspring to the other side of the world.

And I refuse to let him leave that house!

I can actually see Iris moving to LA but I don’t see her and Jack staying together. They just don’t fit to me.

*realise I am overanalyzing a shite film
*searches for life

*will continue to watch it yearly

VanillaMincePie · 08/12/2017 21:09

But...but....but....Amanda's house is huge and it has a swimming pool

OP posts:
MadMags · 08/12/2017 21:10

But Graham’s house has a courtyard and a Jude Law!

Bobbins43 · 08/12/2017 21:11

They keep BOTH houses and spend six months in each

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 08/12/2017 21:12

It all gets a bit 'Closer' in 6 months time and they all end up miserable and alone.

IndianaMoleWoman · 08/12/2017 21:22

They all stay together until around the 17th of Jan, when they realise they’ve all got caught up in the festive spirit and it’s all a bit ridiculous. Iris, at least, has realised what a twat Jasper is.

Why do you think there is no The Holiday 2?

MadMags · 08/12/2017 21:45

Why do you think there is no The Holiday 2?

Because they’re all too busy living in cozy bliss?

VanillaMincePie · 08/12/2017 21:57

Graham's house has a cow in the back garden. I can't imagine Amanda milking it in those lovely clothes.

@indianamolewoman It never occurred to me that there was no sequel. So, naturally, I had to Google it! And look what I found!

OP posts:
IndianaMoleWoman · 08/12/2017 22:09

@VanillaMincePie it sounds absolutely monstrous. My new Christmas wish is that they never, ever make a sequel!

VanillaMincePie · 08/12/2017 22:29

Yes, why mess with perfection? ? Xmas Grin

I've just watched this film for the first time. It's so corny and completely badly acted for such well known actors... loved it!!! Amanda definitely moves to the UK. I wasn't really bothered about the iris half of the film if I'm honest

RebootYourEngine · 08/12/2017 23:18

I cant get over the fact that this film is 11 years old Shock where has the time gone

weeboysmummy · 08/12/2017 23:56

I also love this film and watch it every Christmas - mainly for Jude Law...

MadMags · 09/12/2017 18:45

I think a woman could put up with a cow if it meant seeing Jude Law in those glasses, tbh!

Trills · 09/12/2017 19:00

Cameron would get on well in London. She has to move because of the children.

Kate and Jack was just a thing that helped her to get over her bad ex and feel more positive about things. The old dude was just as important as he was for this.

Movablefeast · 09/12/2017 19:12

Jack is too pathetic and creepy but Iris will end up stayng with him too long because she's easily manipulated. She is super wet and has zero backbone.

VanillaMincePie · 09/12/2017 23:30

Why is Jack creepy? It's not like he touched her boob or anything whilst pretending to get the salt.

OP posts:
Movablefeast · 10/12/2017 02:02

They are both needy and insecure.
