Help me get the Christmas spirit

So, I’m struggling a bit this year with my mood. I’m under my Gp, so hopefully getting a handle on things, but with only 4 weeks to go I’m way behind on prep, and worse, not feeling christmassy at all. I’ve 4 dc I need to fake it for, but also I don’t want to miss out on enjoying one of my favourite parts of the year with them.
Any tips to jump start Christmas or at least get me organised enough to pretend for the dc?
Sorry for the miserable post.

Oh OP, i'm feeling it too.
I WANT to feel Christmassy, its a big event in our house but i'm not really feeling anything at the moment. I'm under the GP too.

I think part of it feeds into an enduring anxiety about Christmas, in the run up to Christmas. It almost sucks the joy out of it.

I then feel guilty about not feeling the excitement without a sense of dread. Its so hard.

can you make a list of what needs doing and then go through it and prioritise the really important stuff (e.g. Sort presents for kids) and then simplify the less important bits (e.g readymade Christmas food).

If there are jobs that make you feel paralysed (maybe gift wrapping) could you delegate it?

I find that getting a handle on the mountainous to-do list impacts my mood hugely. Turn some of the to-do's into just-don'ts

I strongly recommend doing LESS wherever possible. So shop online (from the comfort of your bed if possible), plan a Christmas activity that doesn't involve queuing/parking/tackling crowds like watching a Christmas movie at home.

A candle (led with small dc) and Christmas music in the background go a long way to creating a Christmassy atmosphere (and distracting everyone else from how un-Christmassy you're feeling)

Are there specific parts of Christmas that you enjoy? Again prioritise these and let some of the other parts slide

I normally enjoy all of it: shopping, decorating, crowds, music, films, wrapping, food...
Have started some online shopping, but am just conscious of how much more I have to do... maybe RL shopping may help, with the music and decorations etc. I’ll try to make lists later too to see if it helps me feel like I’m getting something done, and maybe light Christmas candles.
