Shock

I can't believe it.

I got a bass guitar and amp for DD1 aged 13
Then about 4 things from her fave online fashion shop...basically a top, a dress, a massive wall hanging thing and a necklace...almost bankrupted myself! WHY are teens so expensive!

Then for DD2 aged 9 I got a metal detector, a doll she wants, a couple of board games, a craft/fashion thing set, massive set of scented colouring stuff, and something else I can't remember!

I am worried about lack of quantity though...DD1 only has 6 things to open and DD2 7 things.

I am SURE I normall have about 12 things each...

What can I get to bulk them out please? I'd rather buy things like that in person so I think I'll go next week when I get stocking bits.

Is the 'bulking out' as well as or instead of a stocking?

Ollivander84 · 26/11/2017 02:23

When I was at school/college and later on Uni, mum would do my stocking with "useful stuff" which I guess would work for bulking out
So things like
New toothbrush/electric toothbrush heads
Shower gel/bubble bath
Cleanser
Body scrub/moisturiser
Nail polish and remover
Makeup I used at the time
A DVD I wanted or a book
Pens/notepad/diary
Gloves/socks/slippers/scarf
Pjs
Deodorant
Posh hot chocolate/tea
Hair bobbles
Shampoo/conditioner/ styling products
Cushion/blanket for my room or new pillow cases

I know this all sounds boring but none of it was wasted and when they're older/at uni it's SO nice to know you don't have to buy anything for ages! One year my absolute favourite present was 1000 Yorkshire teabags and a catering size pack of washing powder GrinGrinGrin along with bags of 20 pence pieces for the laundry!

Last year my 13 year old had a space hopper, I wrapped it inflated, he loved it, all 3 of mine still play with it now.

Year before I got a giant inflatable football from sports direct, they all use it sit on, as well as like a ball, still around now.

Cushion, fleecy throw, onesie, pjs, suggestions are good.

Giant tub of popcorn, from places like b&m. Big tub marshmallows. Big box crisps. Heatable microwave animal/teddy.

I like the beanbag idea, might use that this year.

Haven't read all the replies so these may have been suggested but things like cushions really bulk out the pile. Also large selection boxes, a fluffy dressing gown etc :)

Sassenach85 · 26/11/2017 08:34

Can't go wrong with a big fluffy dressing gown and fluffy slipper boots.

PrimalLass · 26/11/2017 11:11

Big pack of sharpies
Quilted bedspread

profpoopsnagle · 26/11/2017 11:49

I sometimes buy their favourite cereal (we normally have own brand) as a pressie. Have also done 6 pack of coke or similar as they look quite big and are a treat for my kids. Nothing to store after a few weeks!

dolfinne · 26/11/2017 12:43

a new throw/blanket or dressing gown, something nice and cosy

Tiredmumno1 · 26/11/2017 13:42

Have you seen the huge tubs of popcorn in Asda at the moment for £1.50, big and lasts a while.

A new pair of trainers or shoes?

I would have also said onesie, slippers or pyjamas, and selection box.

Payfrozen · 26/11/2017 14:24

As pp have said - onesie, hoodie, wellies, slippers but only if needed
Stationery
Shampoo etc

Sports kit - kit bag, cycling helmet, swimming towel, goggles, gloves etc
