Alternative to crackers at Christmas

We can't have crackers at Christmas as the bang frightens the life out of my dog. Any ideas on something fun I can give guests instead?

Buy crackers and remove the bang before putting them on table?

Hotel chocolat sell crackers that may not bang, or little star decorations that have chocolates in them

Make little bags with hats, joke and novelty item in?

Put selfish props out instead and everyone can swap and use them together?

Selfish? Selfie! I obviously haven't used that word on my tablet before

Lock the dog in a room whilst you pull the crackers?

On NOTHS you can get tins with ring pulls rather than crackers.

My grandparents often do table presents rather than crackers and wrap up a hat and joke with the present (usually just a small token gift such as a mini bottle of wine or a trivia game).

Mini stockings with a small gift, paper hat and a terrible joke in them

Could you make your own crackers and leave out the snap part. Otherwise some shops have little puzzles things (WHS and Waterstones) that you could get instead of crackers.

Those clear, see through baubles which open in half for you to put a photo in could be used to store a joke, a hat and a small gift.

Make your own blind bag type thing and give everyone a racing grannie with a handwritten joke?

Napkin origami concealing gifts, hat and joke... or lottery ticket and an after eight.

I'd take the bang out of the cracker, and have the pullers whisper bang Grin You can buy build your own cracker sets where you just buy the present separately then assemble - that would make it easier to remove the bang?

Or, do a lucky dip? Or a game you all play together? Charades, pictonary, a festive bingo, a racing game?
A quiz? Murder mystery?

Thanks for all the tips! You've given me lots of options :)
