Do you like these candles?

Would you be happy to receive one of the Woodwick medium trilogy candles as a present?
It's the ones that crackle as they burn.

I have a few people to buy for (mostly ladies) and really struggling and have a bit of a budget + short on time.
I'm thinking of using the boots 3 for 2 and buying the Woodwick candles and adding little bits to the gift like a tea one of them likes or their favourite chocolates/sweets etc.

Opinions?

Yes, I'd love one. Second the poster who said try TK Maxx, though. Loads cheaper. They have Stoneglow for around 40% of the actual price.

WhatKatyDidNotDo · 18/11/2017 12:42

I've bought the Biscotti one before that you mentioned OP- love that scent

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/11/2017 13:50

I love candles and usually buy Yankee , but I did try a sample sized Woodwick (black cherry IIRC) it was really nice.

I'm planning buying on of the Christmas ones (after a smell test) unless I leave huge hints under DH nose ......................Xmas Grin

I'd love one as a gift, maybe if you're buying as a Christmas present go for warm vanilla type rather than FullOnFestive.

I like the look of Lime Gelato m'self

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/11/2017 13:51

Ohh TKMaxx sells them....? Xmas Smile

poisonedbypen · 18/11/2017 14:56

I got the green boat shaped one last year, it was lovely but would actually prefer a non Christmas scent. Funnily enough I bought the same person a beigey coloured one which was non Christmassy & nice.

Maudlinmaud · 18/11/2017 15:00

The warm wool is the nicest smell ever. I really really like woodwick and the crackling variety are very cosy. I think they have sort of log smelling one too which I also like.

Didiusfalco · 18/11/2017 17:12

Katy where do you find large Yankee for £12? A relative has requested something from them, but im not a candle user so a bit clueless.

Unicorn81 · 18/11/2017 19:49

Love the smell but the crackle really got on my nerves so had to burn in hall where i couldnt hear it. Id prefer a yankee one in My Serenity, think its one that would suit a lot of people or Christmas Eve

Freshprincess · 18/11/2017 19:52

Yes please! I've only ever seen them in my local garden centre and they're £££.

Wh0KnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 18/11/2017 20:15

I was given one last year, I'm still on the top layer but have really liked it, it burns very evenly, the wick stays exactly the right length and I've like the fragrance, it was Cinnamon Cheer/Fraser Fir/Candy Cane Cupcake. Suspect I won't like the bottom layer though, sounds very sickly. I hate fruity fragrances but like cinnamon.

WhatKatyDidNotDo · 19/11/2017 15:58

Didiusfalco I usually find them in shops like Love Aroma- not sure whether this is a regional chain- they usually have specific candles on promotion, that are cheaper because they are last season's- but vanilla and floral scents can often be used all year round.

Also, the actual Yankee Candle shops often have promotions.

Try supermarkets too- Tesco, Asda- try Tesco Home reduced section.

Fekko · 19/11/2017 15:59

I misread it as 'cackling candles' and thought 'oh yes!'. Cracking sounds good too!

Snausage · 19/11/2017 17:29

Oh, OP, I would love one as a gift! I usually buy my own! The WoodWick candles are my absolute favourite. The scent throws itself all round even a big room, they last for ages, they're soy (rather than paraffin) so don't get sooty like Yankee candles do, and I LOVE the crackling sound! My favourite scent is Fireside, but I have just lit their Wood Smoke scented one. I think your gift recipients will be thrilled!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/11/2017 18:17

I went to HomeSense ( TKMaxx but just house things not the clothes ) they had a big display of candles , all brands, but it was difficult to plough through them all trying to smell them .
There was a gorgeous orangey scent but I couldn't fathom which candle it was Xmas Confused

And it was a Saturday so not the best day to nose about .

Findingross · 19/11/2017 18:23

Absolutely love Woodwick candles and have quite a few.

I was in B&M stores yesterday and they have their own version, similarly named, with a lighter wood colour top. Apart from that, they look pretty identical (including the wick).

I haven’t lit it yet, but just thought that I’d pass on the info.

FGSholdthedoor · 19/11/2017 22:08

Ok the replies on here have made up my mind and I have gone out and stocked up on various scents of the Woodwick and I'm now just deciding on how to distribute them amongst everyone Grin

I went for the 3 for 2 in boots as they're 19.99 so just under £40 for 3 which I thought was good as its sticking with my budget for people. I've looked around to see if they're cheaper elsewhere but even on Amazon (prime) they're around £14 for the medium which works out just over the £40 mark - although I'd definitely buy on Amazon if I was just buying one.

I'm glad to hear lots of people like them I'm hoping they'll be well received by everyone I'm buying for.
And decided not to go for any seasonal ones as I don't think you get the use out of them.

Has anyone tried the oatmeal cookie scent?
