Bugger! Have I left my fruit soaking too long?

Put my fruit to soak for christmas cake during half term so it's been sat there for nearly 3 weeks. Is it useable or will we all die? (Well only I will die as no one else eats it)

It'll be all the more tasty!! (....- assuming you've soaked it in alcohol/had it in the fridge!!)

I've cooked a cake in the past which requires the fruit to soak for 4 weeks so no problem

Soaked in alcohol but not in the fridge. I will assume the alcohol will preserve though?

Smell - and taste a wee bit. As long as it smells and tastes ok and not too 'fermented' I'm sure it will be lovely 😋

Which alcohol?

GremlinGreen · 16/11/2017 11:56

It will be fine. I usually end up leaving mine for about the same amount of time!

monkeywithacowface · 16/11/2017 13:53

Soak it in brandy

I once soaked mine for an entire year due to not getting round to making the cake, it was fine!

Terrylene · 16/11/2017 14:01

I do this every year. It will be all the better for it. The one year I got my act together, the cake was rubbish.

oldlaundbooth · 16/11/2017 14:01

It'll be fine.
