Is it the paperwhite? Better to have one that doesn't need a light for reading in the dark

LavenderDoll · 15/11/2017 14:47

Crap not a clue
Don't think so should I get a paper white one
I'm not a fan of kindle so never really used them
Thanks for the help

Paperwhite might go on offer on black Friday deals. Basic kindle would need a separate light to use in the dark. My kids have the paperwhite and I have the voyage. They all have an adjustable brightness so it can be used in both the dark and bright sunshine

Get a Paperwhite.

I got mine on Black Friday a few years ago. Coupled with Tesco vouchers it was practically free.

Spam88 · 15/11/2017 15:01

Definitely worth getting the Paperwhite! Might as well hang on for Black Friday I think, they’re not going to sell out.

RenardeRenarde · 15/11/2017 15:02

I got a good deal on Black Friday last year on the Paperwhite, I’d wait :)

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 15/11/2017 16:09

I love my paperwhite but I'm sure the regular would be fine if that's what she's asked for. I used to use a case and clip on light for my old e-reader, i wouldn't have upgraded but it was a gift!

Could you use an introductory offer for very to get it? I did that in the past and got £30 off a £60 spend and could pay interest free over 3 months.

Tiggles · 15/11/2017 16:42

I got my paperwhites on offer on black friday.

chaplin1409 · 15/11/2017 16:45

Can I ask how much did people pay for their paperwhite on black Friday?

Redglitter · 15/11/2017 16:45

Definitely get a Paperwhite. It's streets ahead of the basic version. I'd hang off for Black Friday. Although keep checking Amazon as a lot of their reductions have
Started. I got Amazon Dots today for £35

MyBrilliantDisguise · 15/11/2017 16:50

If you get a Kindle Fire, your daughter could access library books on there for free. If she's an avid reader that would be a good idea.

Spam88 · 15/11/2017 17:33

The fire isn’t great for the eyes though if you’re reading a lot on it.

reluctantbrit · 15/11/2017 18:10

We all have the paperwhite. I got DD's last year at Black Friday, I think it was 20% off. I think it is a good investment but be careful, lots of new releases are quite expensive as Kindle books, DD uses her for only around 30% off her reading I would say? But just for convenience it is worth it on the long run.

We checked the library option, don't like reading on an iPad or other tablet but you can get readers like the Kobe. Unfortunately our library book selection is so tiny, not worth thinking about it. So check that first before you go that route.

LavenderDoll · 15/11/2017 18:40

Sounds like paper white is the way forward then..
I'll start shopping around

Get a kindle fire Hun they are such good quality and mine has lasted 3 and a bit years, I use it a lot as I am a bookworm SmileSmile

BikeRunSki · 15/11/2017 22:48

You can get library books for free on the Paperwhite. I like the Paperwhite because it’s not a tablet. No MN distractions whilst reading!

Housemum · 24/11/2017 10:06

How do you get library books for free? I thought library books (in the UK) were in a different format, so Kobo can download them but Kindle can't?
