MrsLannister I know what you mean for the towel, I haven’t bought one but a quick google suggests they are called bath wraps, towel wraps and bath sarongs.

There are some on amazon 100% cotton although I have no experience of how good quality/soft they are. They are £18 on amazon. Might be a place to start?

Reastie · 17/11/2017 07:44

Bringyour I bet they'd love a joke set (plastic fly in a fake ice cube/whoopee cushion etc)

MrsLannister Etsy has loads. In America they seem to be called spa towels.

Quick post before I head to work, but something I saw this morning looks like a good idea for boys bedrooms (an equivalent to girls fairy lights maybe) ... on HUKD someone posted about a Make your Own 'Neon' Sign kit at Argos for about £8. Anyway it seems that if you look on ebay, AliExpress etc for "El wire" it's the same thing but much cheaper and available in various colours.

(it's basically a battery powered lit wire that can be bent and molded to any shape so you can write a name with it, edge book shelves etc. and it looks a bit like a neon sign .Its the stuff that they pimp cars with apparently)

I'm now after gin for my secret Santa. I hate gin so I know nothing of it, but if anyone can recommend me a nice set or bottle I would be very grateful. I really like the lady I've got in SS, so I don't mind spending a bit more to get something nice.

CarrotVan · 17/11/2017 08:32

@mrslannister those towel wraps are easy to make. Get a really nice towel and stitch on a bit of Velcro. Gives you more control over towel quality

Jaffalong · 17/11/2017 08:39

Reluctant Camper make sure that the recipients would appreciate a can of gin and tonic. I don't drink but was given a bottle of Prosecco last Christmas from my voluntary job. I ended up regifting it to my friend. It was a nice thought but a tin of chocolates, biscuits or nice coffee is more suitable for me particularly from Godiva DH

How about a the Lidl fudge and a nice Christmas decoration or small floral arrangement? You can buy multipacks of pretty decorations and split it amongst the staff. They'll have a permanent keepsake from your ds then & remember him every year.

Blu123 · 17/11/2017 08:53

MrsReacher35 it sounds like the Toys R Us 20% off is only on full price items from what I’ve read in the terms and conditions.

NoWordForFluffy · 17/11/2017 09:02

@AtSea1979, the news story I've just read says on sale from 23rd.

Thank you for the heads up as I want to get to Glasgow early next year, so will stick a reminder in my phone! (I'll be up at midnight 22-23 as Sainsbury’s Christmas slots apparently go live then!)

Popsicle789 · 17/11/2017 09:05

Mrs Lannister. I've checked and La Senza don't sell them anymore. But there's millions on eBay from other brands

LostMyRubySlippers · 17/11/2017 09:09

wreckingball I have just got this set from Argos Star Wars mashers for friends DS
I got my own 5yo the equivalent set with marvel figures. Argos don’t have this now but have seen at entertainer, but bit over your budget

cookiefiend · 17/11/2017 09:16

@SymphonyofShadows I bought DH this gin which seems to be an ok price on amazon at the moment (probably means they are price matching somewhere like Tesco)

Opihr gin £18.00

whyami and bringon I have girls but a nice gift Ive done every year since they were tiny (now 5 and 8) is a new film/dvd, the book and a toy from it. Either a cuddly one or a busy book (£5 from supermarkets/tkmaxx hardback book with playmat and 12 figures - loads of variety disney/superheroes/programmes)

Kids film for 4/5 year olds I would recommend despicable me 3, trolls, lego batman film, pj masks, paw patrol dvd. I work with that age and those are pretty popular! Or a classic disney like jungle book or Robin hood.

Or alternatively a set of books - sue hendra is fantastic for that age, Dr suess.

A fantastic book I bought a few years ago is a big maps book for children from amazon my girls spend ages looking at it

Also personalised things are popular - keyring for their school bag, pencils with their name (especially if they have unusual names!) Water bottle, plaque for their door.

AGnu · 17/11/2017 09:22

I've got my eye on something for myself which is in the Mothercare black Friday preview sale for £50. According to CCC it was only £30 on Amazon from mid-Nov until January last year - currently at £99. Do I wait & see if it's in the Amazon BF sale or grab it now? If it's in the Mothercare preview, does that mean it'll be in the sale next week?

This is the first year I've paid any attention to these threads & all this bargain hunting is so stressful! Also, I kind of want to get my DC a fingerling each. They'd drive me up the wall & we've already got DS1's present sorted but I'm really struggling to resist! BlushGrin

AtSea1979 · 17/11/2017 09:24

Oh is it not Black Friday today? Is it next Friday?

JammyChristmas · 17/11/2017 09:29

Just been on the Asda George website and they have 25% off advent calendars

Squ1ggle · 17/11/2017 09:44

For those considering the kids kindle fire tablet for Christmas they've been reduced today. The 8inch HD 32gb is £40 off down to £90 and the 7inch 16gb one is £30 off down to £70. I don't know whether they'll drop more on black friday but I've just bought ours so that I know I've got one at a decent price

Build a Bear stuffing station is currently priced at £18.17 on Amazon for Prime members. This is the cheapest I’ve seen it and have been stalking it since I missed out on the £24 ones in the Sainsbury Toy Sale as always has DD with me.

Tattybogle89 · 17/11/2017 09:59

Yellow scuttlebug £14.99 cheapest I’ve seen!
