Sonos Alexa .... please explain!

We have sonos at home which I love. I’ve seen a sonos speaker with inbuilt Alexa but can’t work out what it DOES! can anyone shed light. Will this be a good Christmas gift for my husband who loves tech or is it just a gimmick?

It links with Amazon Alexa so you can do all the stuff Alexa does like ordering things, finding out the weather and stuff plus also if you subscribe to the Amazon music service play tracks directly.

I don't see the point personally.
