Ideas for students?

I'm looking for ideas for a present for my friend's DS. He's 18-19, just started university, studying physics. Not really into sports.

Looking for something around the £15-20 price mark. Annoyingly he has a birthday just before Christmas, so I actually need two ideas - may fall back on the good old Amazon gift voucher for one of them!

Can anyone help? What (cheap) stuff is obligatory for today's student?!

Does he play Xbox or anything like that?
Willow do lots of nicknavk type things that teen boys like.
Superdry, Hollister or other brand name hat, wallet, gloves.
Boots star gift of the week is a Jack Wills back pack with toiletries in it. They also have a whole load of gadgety things, my teen DS was looking at them today.
Also card fair have huge mugs that he also liked with slogans he found amusing.
Watt brothers had Guitar hero for £9.99 compatible with iPad/iPhone etc.
Hope some of these ideas help!

Google restaurants or shops round the area he lives and get him a voucher.

Just bought my sciencey son some Brian Cox socks from Querkity...

Some good ideas here, thanks!

Don't think he has a games console of any kind, but I'll check out the tech stuff in Boots, and I like the vouchers idea.

Off to google...
