Should I cancel my Waitrose Christmas delivery?

A few weeks ago I noticed that Waitrose had a delivery slot available at 4pm on Friday 22nd December. So I nabbed it and did a speedy order.

Now I've just gone on to the Ocado site and there's a delivery slot for 9am on 22nd December. So I've nabbed that as I'm not sure which one is better. But obviously I need to cancel one of them adap to free it up for someone else.

I work ft but actually have that day off work. Nothing planned and if we did go out it is likely to be in the evening so neither slot will impinge on that. Dc are 19 and 21 so won't be doing activities with them!

So which should I cancel? My instinct is to cancel the Waitrose one as the local store which fulfil the order might have run out of stuff by then. On the other hand , if I do decide I want to fly into town for something, that would be better early in the morning so maybe I should cancel the Ocado one?

I realise this is a totally First World Problem!

I'd go for the earlier one and then if anything is missing you have a whole day to get hold of it from somewhere else

I'd keep the early one, to give you more time to get anything not in the delivery.

I'd go early. Over and done with - just make sure you plan something for the evening now

MadMags · 03/11/2017 17:49

I'd 100% keep the earlier one.

Go early, if the 4pm one gets delayed and you're going out in the evening you could have a problem.

I find Ocado much less likely to make substitutions at Christmas - much as I love Waitrose so I would and do use Ocado online and Waitrose for any topping up.

Keep Ocado - did Waitrose at Christmas once... only once... OMG they were pants!

Thanks everyone. I think that's unanimous.

I agree that Ocado are less likely to make substitutions which is why I'm tempted. I guess I was feeling a bit lazy because it will be a precious day off (I'm on call on Boxing Day which is why I get the 22nd off) and didn't want to have to be up by 9am. But I probably will be anyway!

I'm going to cancel Waitrose now. Anyone in the Cambridge area looking for a Waitrose delivery slot at 4pm on the 22nd? It's about to come up 😁😁
