Fannyfannakerpants, I have been following the lego ship also, so far it has only dropped by 5. However, other movie ninjago sets have been dropping considerably. I live in hope!

I told my son to list 3 of his really favourite lego sets and santa may pick one if he can but if not Santa will pick him something else he knows he likes. I've always told him his letter is not a request list it's just an idea for santa for his likes!

corrianderisthedevil · 07/11/2017 11:29

Might be old news but have just been to Poundland and bought a load of stocking filler things and pretty tasteful decorations! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!

OhHolyFuck · 07/11/2017 11:33

Nipped into the works to pick up a 'letter to santa' kit...obviously bought a Christmas elf toilet set too whilst I was there

I need someone to stop me

MarriedAroundChristmas · 07/11/2017 11:41

@ShoppingBasket Thanks for sharing your Santa list theory. That's a nice way to think of it, my DD is only 2 but I'll try my best to remember to explain it like that!

friskybivalves · 07/11/2017 11:53

Sadly the Ninjago ultimate weapon is already back up at 78.99

Thisandthat2017 · 07/11/2017 12:07

Just bought this in card factory. It's good quality so I think it will last a good few years as the Xmas eve box. At 6.99 a complete bargain! They also had a smaller one for 4.99.

To give you an idea of the size, my laptop fits perfectly 😁

Travel journals reduced in luckies this week, they also give 10% off first order for signing up and free delivery over £40. Details on website. Some of the travel journals have mini scratch maps inside.

Fanny I tell mine that the elves only have so much time to make toys and that there are so many little bricks in the Lego set that it takes them ages. I think that makes more sense to them than cost when they are little. (And explains clearly why one large Lego set = less little bits and bobs)

To the poster asking about hatchimals: they aren't even cuddly! Hard plastic things with a bit of hairy fur stuck on. If you want to get value out of it be sure to read the instructions so you know what to do each time it reaches a new stage. Ours gets taken out rarely now mainly so The DSs can get it to repeat back naughty words. I don't really think it would be great for a child with a short attention span though.

NoWordForFluffy · 07/11/2017 12:28

Ooh, I like that, @Thisandthat2017! I want something to put the sacks, stockings, pyjamas and plate into. That would work well!

newnamechange84 · 07/11/2017 12:33

Thanks annewithno I think I’ll avoid a hatchimal then! Dd has been watching something by the sounds of it!

WoahBodyforrrrm · 07/11/2017 12:50

I got a nine set of Tom Gates books for £14.99 from TK Maxx today. I also picked up a 2 pack of Cristiano Ronaldo underpants in the childrens department for my DS10 to pop in his stocking.

I'm super chuffed with myself as I had my DS6 with me both today and yesterday and still managed some stealth Christmas shopping for him and his siblings and he didn't notice a thing 💁🏼. it helped that he was so engrossed in adding eleventymillion new items to his Christmas list

Financialconund · 07/11/2017 12:56

My son has asked for the lego nijago pirate ship. When i told him it was a lot of money to spend on lego, he replied 'Don't worry, I'll ask Father Christmas for it.'
I'm not sure how to reason that one with a 5 year old so if anyone sees it on offer, please let me know.

^^ Just tell him FC doesn't always get the gifts he asks for!

I never even encouraged lists! Now dc older ( but still just about believing) I ask what they want but that FC cant always get everything he has to also balance with what the dp will want to get their dc eg - pets - xboxes etc. So they can ask but they may not get.

For anyone who is thinking of a magazine subscription, Readly is excellent. I got it last year after a recommendation on here. You can read loads of popular titles, including BBC ones, on electronic devices - one account lets you use five different devices, e.g. phone/Kindle/ipad etc.

It's £7.99 a month, so if you buy two magazines each month it'll save money. If you can't decide which subscription someone would like, this is fab because they can choose as many as they like! Great gift for couples or even a whole family, as they do some kids' titles as well. We used to have piles and piles of magazines around but the coffee table is clear now, and we can read while we're out and about without lugging magazines with us too! Perfect for doctors, hospitals and holidays Grin

They do a month's free trial, which is dead easy to cancel. I have a referral link which gives me a month free if you continue your subscription. My parents (who are technophobes) love it!

I will be sending some packs of lego cards to Lavate but expect to have more left if they will be good for anyone else's stockings.

RJnomore1 · 07/11/2017 13:20

Ooh you all fell off my threads I'm on

🙀

chicaguapa · 07/11/2017 13:23

Used to be able to vouch for how excellent Readly is. However since they pulled the Windows app (which was a very strange decision) I can't read the magazines on my Windows tablet. So they've restricted their readership to people with iPads (but not Macs) and whatever tablets run Android, though it's hopeless on an Amazon Fire 8. Hmm

Silvertap · 07/11/2017 13:28

My godson has just sent over his Xmas list. I’d like to get him a PS4 game but they seem to come in around £40. Do they ever come up in offers?

Silvertap · 07/11/2017 13:37

Or nerf gun stuff!

Casablanca78 · 07/11/2017 13:39

After missing out on the Fingerlings ToysRUs online stock that went in minutes this morning, I thought I'd try my luck at my local store figuring if the website had stock then surely they'd give them to stores too - turned out to be the case and they'd just out them out and had every colour and unicorns.

I bought a unicorn and monkey. Then went back in as decided to get an extra one as a gift for my nephew - I literally was treated like a criminal as they were being really strict on only allowing 2 per person and the manager phoned down to the till as I was standing there to tell the girl not to let me buy it as I'd already been in. Very embarrassing and it's hardly as if I was cleaning the whole shelf!

TellMeItsNotTrue · 07/11/2017 13:39

TOPCASHBACK has just posted on Facebook that you can get the hotel chocolat tasting box for £9.95 by going through topcashback and you will get £9.95 cashback, making it essentially free!

I know it's more expensive than the £6.95 offer but with the cashback it becomes free, so it's actually a better offer!

*I've included my referral link in case you aren't a topcashback member. I would normally put it in the referral thread but this post needed a link anyway so I thought it made sense. Wanted to be clear that it's a referral link though, I only get £5 at the moment but much appreciated!

butterflymum · 07/11/2017 14:05

@chicaguapa I can read magazines from Readly on my Windows tablet by just doing so via the website, rather than the app. Also, just do it via the website on my Kindle Fire too, as I hate installing apps that ask for lots of 'permissions'.

craftymadam · 07/11/2017 14:16

I need to buy a Yankee candle for a 13 year old girl, has any one got any suggestions of the best place to buy them? I was thinking maybe a few smaller ones might be better in case I chose a scent she's not keen on?

LostMyRubySlippers · 07/11/2017 14:42

Thanks for the heads up re the Hotel Chocolat. Was planning to order one anyway but for free is even better!! as long as the cashback tracks!

gingerbreadmam · 07/11/2017 14:47

B&m and bargain buys do Yankees cheap. Clinton's is sometimes worth a look too. Black cherry is a nice scent or clean cotton but Christmas Eve is my ultimate favourite.
