Tell me about Sprockets please, or is there a better alternative

I've heard lots of talk about them on here & think one would be good for ds (13). What is the picture quality like & how big? How quickly does the ink get used up? Is there a better value or better quality alternative? Any info appreciated, I'll put my trust in mumsnet!

Ooh following with interest as dd wants one! I’ve been price watching on Amazon and they’ve gone up from £89 to £114 in 2 weeks! Just wondering if Black Friday will bring the price back down to normal levels??!

I don't think they use ink. It's already in the special paper (think it's something like £10 for 10 photos) I'm considering getting dd1 one, but going to wait to see if they go on sale in black Friday sales. The photos are 2x3" I think?

Wow that's quite a big initial spend and then £1 per small pic. May consider it if it's reduced enough then.

Oh actually I was wrong, it's £10 for 20 so not quite as bad.
