Here's a Christmas challenge

I need to buy a gift for an elderly couple who live in Ontario. This is relevant because it could be a typically British gift. However, it needs to be (very) small as the person taking it will only have hand luggage, which also rules out chutney etc. They don't really want or need stuff...I have bought some Buckingham Palace china before but I think it probably got put in a cupboard. Budget up to £75. They like tv, bowling, coffee and the royal family. It gets cold in the winter; I was thinking a nice scarf each but seems a bit dull. I'd be eternally grateful for any suggestions that aren't quite so boring.

Hmm, size is the problem here as I can't think of anything small. Would it be a possibility to put it in the main suitcase? If so what about a nice woollen blanket, roll it rather than folding to save space.

How about a gift voucher for Afternoon Tea at the Ritz Hilton in Ontario, I've just looked online and they only have events up to December at the moment but if you can wait a bit longer until they release January's events, you could book a themed one, for instance in October they are doing a Great Gatsby one for £40 per person, slightly over budget but an easy option.

No hold luggage, unfortunately. So it has to be small. Afternoon tea vouchers are a nice idea or similar.

I like your idea of a nice scarf, especially if you get a pure wool one from a woollen mill, or a nice cashmere/silk blend.
