Amazon Fire for Kids

I wanted to buy my 8 year old a Fire for Kids tablet as I liked the idea of the age-bound content and parental controls, but am outside the UK (though in Europe) and now see that the content is only available in the UK. Does anyone know a way around this by any chance, or an alternative child-friendly tablet? Many thanks.

I'm in ireland and my friends child has a kindle fire with all the parental controls are you sure you can't get it where you are?

We have the Fire's which all have very good parental controls, child profiles, and are £50 cheaper!

Thanks Carrie. As far as I can see I can get the device, but not the content.

Sorry to hijack 1sttimemama but do you mean you have the adult ones? Are the parental controls the same?

Carrie76 · 03/10/2017 21:21

@chocbuttons I have that wrong she has the regular adults one. Has an account on it with parental controls so things like she can't play any games until she's read for a certain amount of time etc

Thanks Mama. I'll think about it.

My dd 7) just has a normal kindle fire connected to my prime account. She finds it super easy to use and the content on prime is great. I can still set up controls so she can't buy anything or access certain content - she doesn't have the full kids access but it has loads on prime plus music plus a browser which is more than she needs. It gets used about twice a week normally on weekends to watch a film I don't want to see or look at a music video and is used during the week for some apps and some reading (although tbh at 7 I still prefer print - don't know why though as essentially it is the same.)

I am in Sweden my10 year old twins got the tablets for their 9the birthday. They don't ship her, so I got my Mother to shipborne tablets but they work perfectly. All the downloads work as normal, parental controls etc. I would recommend.

chocbuttons · 03/10/2017 22:00

Quokka, as far as I know Prime is only available to UK customers.
KC225, interesting, can you still access the Fire for Kids content there?

Mine ask to download stuff all the time. There are tons of free things, always ok. Only thing they have had to pay for is minecraft and roböux coins and that is charged to my English amazon account.

Amazon fire or Kurio tab 2 or leapfrog epic. I saw this online from a tech review regarding best tablets for kids. I haven't really tried any of these but been thinking about what to give my son when he's old enough to have one.
