I have 3 DS's 7 (nearly 8), 6 and 3 (nearly 4) who have toys coming out of their ears and am currently cutting down and getting rid of loads of toys, so with Christmas coming up i really don't want to buy them loads more toys and get back into the same predicament of them having too many. (Obviously they will get some in their stockings)

My 7 year wants a 2DS for his birthday or Christmas but I'm not keen on the idea of him sat looking at a screen by himself?

So I was thinking of getting the switch as we could all play, his brothers could join in, I can see what hes up to as it would be on the tv etc etc rather than him sat on a console by himself but with options as the switch can also be played individually?

so would this be a mad idea? does anyone have one is it suitable for their ages? can you buy extra controllers so they can all play together?
any help on what exactly I would need to get/pre order??
apologies for all the questions

Hi we have one, my boys are 5 and 6. they can play on the big screen together, on the small screen together or individually as a hand held device. I think it's great. It comes with 2 controllers but more controllers are really £££.

Thanks, yes have seen the extra controllers are £££ but don't want one kid left out even though they are quite good at taking turns.
do your children find it esay to play?

We only have Mario Kart and a dance game which they both love and can play easily (can beat me on Mario Kart!). The 6 year old has asked for Fifa for his birthday and they will get Mario Odyssey for Christmas. I'm a big fan of Nintendo in general for kids.

It's brilliant - highly recommend. There's quite a few two player games but everyone can have their own profile so kids can play games on their own if they want. Lego City is pretty good fun but is single player.

SnipperClips and Overcooked are fun two player games which you can download.

Oh yes - you'll need a micro SD card to store game data/download stuff onto. I bought a 32gb one which should do us for the foreseeable!

thanks I'll take a look into it a bit more. it looks great fun, which they can play together.
Is there any other essential extras that don't come in with the console?

Obviously you'll need extra controllers and I guess then you'll need a charging dock for those (although charge lasts about 20 hours so if you're clever, you'll be able to rotate). The only think I've bought on top is a carry case which comes with a screen protector which I think is vital with kids. Oh and we also have a USB charging cable for the car

thanks they are great suggestions especially the charging is for the car.

Another recommendation here. DS has had one since they came out as it coincided with his birthday. He’s still loving it.
