Just after opinions really. I really want to go all out this year for Christmas as DS is 3 and so excited. Buying new decorations and getting a new tree, seen a few white ones and really not sure whether to get one or stick to a traditional one.

What do people think? How do you decorate it, would lights still show up? Would white and red look really naff.

I have a traditional green tree but that's because our house is around 150 years old (think fireplaces and high ceilings) so I think anything too modern would look a little odd.

My sister has a lovely white tree that she changes the decs in each year (I think she has 4/5 themes and does them on rotation). She has silver & blue, purple, bronze, pastels (think dusky pink, lilac, duck egg blue, Matt silver) and then what she calls disco (vibrant pink, blue, purple, gold, yellow baubles that all look a little vintage-esque). She also has different lights (traditional coloured carriage lights, coloured, icy white and pink).

It all looks lovely every year! I would go for it!

I had a white tree a few years ago. I only used it that year. It didn't feel christmassy for me, in the shops they look fab but at home it didn't feel right. I got a green tree with snowy branches and I love it.

Yes I'm worried it won't look Christmasy like the thought of a snow covered one

I have a large real tree in my kitchen/living room very high ceiling, then in sitting room I have a white tree. It's about 3 ish foot I put it on a small table it's bare branches and the ends light up, I hang red and white decorations off it everyone admires it I have it about 10 years got it in local garden centre, it's my favourite decoration.🎄

I have a white one, with just red and green decorations on it. I think it looks very Christmassy. I like the idea of varying the theme though, as per HandbagCrazy's sister!

Yes I might try a different colour this year as well
