My daughter will be one this Christmas and I'm a little stuck as what to get her. I want a keepsake for her. Any ideas? Smile

Dd1 got a copy of the night before Christmas for her first Christmas. We read it every Christmas eve. She got a steiff bear with the year she was born as her first birthday present.

If you want something that she will appreciate when she's older then I would make a little photo album of her first year. I always intended to do something similar for my DC but never got round to it and now we have so many photos saved electronically that we don't ever really look at them all, whereas I think we would look through an album more.

Then get her a toy that you will get lots of use of. We got a Little Tikes car for DD1's first birthday and younger DC still uses it age 5!

Love the Night Before Christmas idea and think I'm going to steal that!

I'm going to get a memory blanket made from a selection of clothes from her first year for my DD's first birthday.

My dds got a charm bracelet and we give an extra charm each year depending on their interests.

My mum got my daughter a special Minnie Mouse from Disney store with her name on the foot. But it also has the year she was born on it.
She's 4 now and still loves it.

We made a photobook of DD's first year. Or write her a letter for her to open when she's 18, I did this (in email form, not really as sweet as a letter but I didn't want it getting lost!), just saying how much joy DD had brought to the whole family in her first year and generally saying how much we all loved her A charm bracelet is a nice idea but you never know what her taste in charms is going to be when she grows up so it might never get worn. You could have a cuddly toy made from your favourite sleepsuits.
