Christmas tree and baby

Hi I was just trying to get a few ideas. By Christmas my ds will be 10 months and on the move. I have a lovely tree that has artificial snow on it.its a lovely tree but makes a real mess and find the fake snow on the floor a lot(think the cat chews it when I'm in bed) .
My worry is ds will knock over or eat bits of snow, he's a very active boy and everything goes in his mouth. Should I just use my tiny 2ft fibre optic tree this year? It will look a bit pathetic!
Any ideas greatly appreciated

Put a playpen round it
Or
Get a cheap fake one for this year and put plastic baubles on the lower branches

Thanks that's a great idea never thought of playpen, I love Christmas and all thing related to it , my older don was only 3 months old on his 1st Christmas do never had the same issue

My friend penned her tree off for about 6 years - got her through Christmases with two kids until the youngest was 4. Great idea, as she loves Christmas and has the most gorgeous tree every year, absolutely filled with decorations!

I'm trying to steer my daughter away from the tree but if that fails i'll be doing the playpen idea.
A friend told my hobbycraft do a felt tree and decorations for kids so going to look out for that for her and hope it acts as a distraction as it will be 'her tree'

I'm thinking about getting one of those felt trees from hobbycraft & just using that as our tree this year as no amount of a stern "No!" will stop our DS from touching what he wants to touch! He will be 17 months old, we can't pen our tree off just with the size of the room & where we put the tree so this seems like the best alternative! I love my Christmas tree but I'd rather not see it as a heap on the floor Grin

My daughter is the same, she's 13m and loves cables at the moment, you say 'no' and she just grins, thankfully not many cables out but at Christmas there will be..... maybe i can hide them under a Christmas rug or something.......

Maybe I'll get a felt in from hobby craft I'm going on froday so will have a look, I never even thought of the tree light cables, I know for a fact he'll be attracted to them he's a wild boy!

Oh god I hadn't even thought of this. DS will presumably be walking by then and is interested in EVERYTHING already.

Need eyes everywhere Grin

We did the playpen thing here too. I think only for 2 years (DD 18 months and DS 17 months the year after). We couldn't face it last year (3.6 and 2.5) and they both knew to STAY AWAY!

It works a treat, as does putting it on a table so it's raised away from them a touch.

Can't do the table with my tree, its 7ft Grin
Love my tree 😍
