Knex or Meccano?

I'm looking for recommendations! I have a 5 year old boy who loves building and creating things. We already have stacks of Lego so looking for something new for him.

Anyone dcs use either?

Knex- my two love it!

K'Nex. My boys loved it. Old fashioned nut and bolt meccano is a bit too fiddly, but there is a more modern plasticky version I think.

I never liked kids meccano. I think the nuts and bolts don't screw on very tightly, by the time you get to step 4 in the instructions the nuts in stage 1 have come loose. And you will get constantly irritated by your kids asking you to tighten them up.
Knex is great but the smaller stuff can be tricky for a 5 yr old. The really chunky ones are too basic for age 5 I would think.
My kids also love zoobs.

I'd say Knex is better at 5.

My son has become more into Meccano as he's grown but he's always loved Knex and plays with it still. (He's now 9)

Don't bother with junior mechano as previous poster said it loosens off / doesn't tighten up.
I find it frustrating never mind DS.

I had a look at Lego Boost but it's £££s, plus I can't bear any more Lego coming into this house!
