Are they any good? Just got an email offer for 10% off 2. I know my kids would love them!

No! Last year they were full of tat, some broken already. Waste of money.

Somerville · 02/09/2017 20:26

Terrible last year. They seem to be pushing a new and improved one this year but I wouldn't risk it. There's loads of choice from companies who have a track record of making decent ones.

Toomanycats99 · 02/09/2017 20:36

First years was ok. Last years was horrendous. They have sent a we are sorry it all cheaper and better this year email. You can apparently also go into a shop and see the contents. I'm staying well clear though!

AnneEyhtMeyer · 02/09/2017 21:22

Last year's was horrendously bad. It would have been funny if I didn't have an upset 7 year old to deal with every morning.

Everything was either broken and / or something that would come out of a cheap pack of Christmas crackers.

They are swearing that they have learned their lesson and this year's will be fabulous, but I don't trust them. Last year we paid £25 for a pile of tat and even though they admitted they were crap they didn't do the decent thing and refund, but gave "substitutions" in store, which were of similar crap quality.

I'v heard good things about Tinc though, so think I'll use them this year.

Crocklebog · 03/09/2017 17:37

We had one last year and it was awful. The DCs were upset on the days things were broken and it was full of tat. At £25 it was a joke. I am going to stick to simple chocolate ones this year!

user1471462578 · 03/09/2017 17:51

Yep. Ours was rubbish last year. Sad That said, the store were fine with replacing the broken tat but it was a pain having to repeatedly go back to the store! I will not be purchasing it this year!

Crocklebog · 03/09/2017 17:55

Out of curiosity I just messaged Smiggle to ask what is in this year's calendar as I couldn't find contents on line. They sent PDF and it doesn't look great IMO. If you message them via Facebook they will send you picture and you can decide for yourself.

PandasRock · 03/09/2017 17:59

Dd2 had a Tinc one last year. Initial, she was a bit sad because all her friends had Smiggle ones, and she wanted that one (Tinc was cheaper Grin) but after a couple of days it became apparent she had by far the better deal.

The Tinc stuff was all really good - proper, full quality key rings, luggage tags, pencils, etc. A couple of really good Christmas badges (metal/enamel), washi tape, a lanyard. I can't remember it all but there wasn't a bad thing amongst it all. And the packaging was good too - you turned around each numbered box to make up a Christmas picture, and each box had a joke (think good cracker joke level) on it.

I'd definitely consider a Tinc one again (although am concerned it would be a bit same-y twice in a row).

Have seen the adverts for the Smiggle one, but after last year's fiasco it would have to be either super-dooper fabulous, or really cheap (or both!) to tempt me.

AnneEyhtMeyer · 03/09/2017 19:09

Could you post a pic of the pdf Crockle?

Ilikesweetpeas · 03/09/2017 19:13

I'm so glad I saw this thread! DD has discovered these calendars today and wants one. I was reluctant to pay £25 for an advent calendar and this has helped me make my mind up!!

Oh2beatsea · 04/09/2017 22:24

How much were the Tinc calendars please?

PandasRock · 06/09/2017 06:42

I think I paid £20 last year (couldn't swear to it).

Think it's going to be £25 this year - had a quick google the other day, to check whether they are available yet.

Sorry for the vagueness - first day back to school and the early start is already getting to me!

Nearlyadoctor · 06/09/2017 07:10

We had a Smiggle one last year and apart from the yoyo on the first morning ( which Smiggle replaced with a much better one instore £7.99) everything was fine. There were a few items that were a bit cracker toy like but on the hand the watch is still working 12 months later.
Dd 10 wants another this year and I'm happy to go with it especially as they should have upped their game after last year.

1122christy · 09/09/2017 09:14

My dd got one last year, although I was far from impressed she loved it and wants again this year. The first one, the same as previous poster, a yo yo was broken which we were able to replace. Everything else was fine.
So have a look at this years items and decide that way

yellowsun · 09/09/2017 11:12

I've asked for a photo of the contents for this years so will see what it looks like.

BlackHillsofDakota · 09/09/2017 18:06

I just googled the Tinc one, you can pre order now but its £28 this year!!
