Ok, I'm on a roll today....final ask for advice for now.

If you were thinking of a wii for a family present and weren't too bothered by second hand/older models which would you go for?

Or am I majorly behind the times? xxx

From our household perspective I'd say it was a bit behaviour the times but it all depends who it is for. I have a teenager now and it's Xbox only.
Hasn't played with the wii in about 5 years but when younger absolutely loved it and family could join in too.

They are a bit old now. Have you looked at a Nintendo switch?

That said my 5yo wants to play Mario maker and if it's not released on the switch by Christmas I'll probably get him a second hand Wii U

Depends how old your kids are. DP has just got a second hand Wii and wii fit board this summer after the kids spent two weeks at my mum's playing hers. We had one when they first came out and it was just me and dp but we got bored with it.

Our dcs are nearly 8 and 4 and they haven't left it alone. It cost less than £40 for the lot and has been worth it. I think it's a good starter console, we don't have an Xbox or PS4 or anything else in our house and the dcs aren't really that aware of what other people have in their houses so it's just a bit of fun to them.

It's for an 11 year and nearly 2 year old plus us. 11 yr old is a gamer but PC based....it's for family time really. I used to have one years ago . . .i think I might go for it.

Its all dependent on the games they will want. TBH I doubt an 11yo will want a console that only plays 3/4 year old games.

I recommend the Nintendo switch. It's a firm favourite with all the family. Big screen and can be used on the tv as well as taking out in the car. Lots of varying games e.g. Zelda and mario kart.

11 year old has access to a decent PC . . . Built for her and dh to use for games such as Civilisation ....she enjoys wii sports when we visit relatives.

I think I've answered my own question Hmm
