Overwhelmed with ideas of what to get my two year old this Christmas!

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a two year old?!?

Tippi?

YouRat · 30/08/2017 15:54

Scuttlebug

moobeana · 30/08/2017 16:04

Playmobil, magnatiles (playmag), happyland, scuttlebug/scramblebug, duplo, balance bike

(Some if these are a little more 2 1/2 than 2, but gives scope for growth!

Sorry, forgot you were overwhelmed, that was probably the least helpful post ever Grin I got carried away.

DS obsessed with marble run, so that would be my one choice.

CloudAtlas81 · 30/08/2017 18:24

Thank you!

All helpful. . . I was thinking of a micro scooter/duplo/tent/tipee or similar so great to see where my ideas fall in general consensus.

We are getting ds a wooden fire station, a bit like a car garage type thing but with firemans pole and engines.

Poor child. He is dc number 3; his first Christmas Santa forgot to even put his stocking out Ginand last year he got very dull gifts of a coat and a book. This is the first year when he will be having anything of his very own!

Tentomidnight · 30/08/2017 19:04

Keyboard
Ride on car/scuttlebug (no pedals)
Toy food/kitchen

FlowerTink · 30/08/2017 19:31

Have any of you got a leapfrog learning laptop for your toddlers? Have they been worth the money / used by your toddlers? Looking at it for my 2 and a half year old :)

CloudAtlas81 I've got a toy kitchen for this year and going to get a toy cash register to go with it if that's any help for you. We have a tent here already and it is very much used and loved by my 2 year old!

Is there anything he/she has their eye on when you go out to playgroups/park etc? My dd was always looking enviously at the older children's scooters so we got her that for her second birthday - she loves it.

moobeana · 30/08/2017 20:03

If I were choosing one item for a two year old for Christmas I would do playmobil / happy land. I tend to save scooters / balance bikes for birthdays.

As an aside, my one choice for a 3 year old is magnatiles / playmag.
My dd got some for her Christmas when she was just 4. They are the only toy that has never been put away for 'toy rotation'. Dd2 is now 2 and she is starting to really build with them now too. They aren't cheap, but have real longevity.

NerrSnerr · 30/08/2017 20:07

Mine loved Brio, Duplo and the small Peppa Pig toys at that age.

Equimum · 30/08/2017 20:33

Wooden trainset and scooter.

DS1 received these for his 2nd birthday and the Christmas the week beforehand. He still plays with both almost daily, aged 4.8 and they have always been great favourited.

DS2 turned two a few days ago and loves these things too, as well as his Schleich animals.

flower11 · 30/08/2017 22:03

Depends what they are into my nearly 2 year old loves dinosaurs we have lots of plastic ones at the moment. Most played with toys in my house are garage and cars, wooden train track and duplo.

Backhometothenorth · 30/08/2017 22:14

Definitely mini microscooter. Bought DD1 for second birthday and she used it everyday till we replaced it with her two-wheeled scooter at Christmas. And it's still in great condition for DD2 when she is old enough.

IamChipmunk · 30/08/2017 22:19

As others are saying - Wooden fire station with firemen and furniture, play kitchen, trolley with food, till, happyland
