Dear MNers,

Do you have any links to DIY Christmas Cracker sets please?

I'd like to make up individual Christmas crackers and pop a few trinkets inside.

Hoping for recommendations,

Thanks

Bob

I've never used a kit. I just get pre made crackers, gently open up one end and replace the contents. I might add strips of lace, stick on jewels etc to give them a little oomph.
I know it's too late for this year but if you're on the Christmas boards you probably have already started planning Christmas 2018 too but crackers go for pennies in late January so if you have storage space you can pick up the extra fat ones then.
Oh and the discarded tat can fill up a few pockets in the advent calendar too

I've used the kit from hobbycraft, they were reasonable quality and did the job.

Crackers are £1 a box from Amazon pantry

They often get the flat, fill your own type for £1-£2 in shops like home bargains, the works, wilkos etc. They usually come with the snap, hat & joke too.

This year we have been saving loo rolls and are going to attempt to do them old school with crepe paper etc. Snaps and hats courtesy of amazon.

Thank you for some great ideas,

Think the trinkets could only be 5 - 7 cm long.

Would like them to bang!

Hats & cr*p jokes essential 😊

I did them with mini toiletries for adults and Lego blind packs for the DC. Hobbycraft provided the shells, jokes, bangers and hats in a kit.

Blind bags - brilliant idea! DS would love a Thomas mini, and DH would love lego! Now to think for the rest of the family.... miniatures are always a winner in our family!

Oxfam sell empty crackers

Where do you buy alcohol miniatures? Had a look in tescos and Asda last week but they don't sell them.
