Inspired by the Christmas traditions thread I wondered if there was any Christmas films I could add to my watch-list to share with the DCs this year.

So far I have
The Muppet Christmas Carol
Santa Claus The Movie
Polar Express

Any recommendations?

Wow, thanks, some I haven't heard of and some classics I'd forgotten about.
Think DS1 would love Home Alone.

Elf, Arthur Christmas and it's a wonderful life.
I also have Christmas 24 on all the time over Christmas - I have a love for cheesy, predictable, cheaply made Christmas movies - you know the ones where the two main characters find true love through a series of Christmas related mishaps usually involving a cute kid and the real father Christmas and everyone discovers the true meaning of Christmas and it starts to snow at the end.

Oh Meet Me in St Louis! Such a lovely film.

Saw Bad Santa some years ago - laughed like a drain! Saw it last year.... yeah, not so funny Confused plus it has Lorelai Gilmore in it taking it up the rear Shock

A Christmas Carol b/w version is great. I want to say Alastair Sim...?

While You Were Sleeping

Idontmeanto · 30/08/2017 15:46

The muppet Christmas Carol is essential, but Christmas isn't Christmas now without a Julia Donaldson cartoon and The Sound of Music.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 30/08/2017 18:00

Ohhhhh I am SOOOOO EXCITED!!! DS2 will be a wee newborn and I'm excited to have him sleep on me while I watch movies. DS1 is 2 and doesn't have the attention span but I'm sure we'll try and force some of these onto him.

The Family Stone
The Holiday

shakemysilliesout · 30/08/2017 19:31

Elf!! My absolute favourite. Nobody's mentioned my second favourite either.
Santa Who?
Love them both.
Also Home Alone but I see that as more a watch any time of year one!
Muppets Christmas Carol and The Snowman too.

4691IrradiatedHaggis · 04/09/2017 01:27

Oh, and someone mentioned Bad Santa. Good film, but you mention watching Christmas films with the dcs. Definitely not one for the kids!

BendydickCuminsnatch · 04/09/2017 16:27

I've just printed all these suggestions off, we're going to work our way through and find some new favourites :)

Can't believe no-one has mentioned Muppet Christmas Carol yet??

Also, anyone know if you can get this Christmas24 shebang on YouView or AppleTV? We've just quit Sky for YouView, and now DH thinking of switching to Apple TV as YouView is crap... this may be the deciding factor for me Grin

BendydickCuminsnatch · 04/09/2017 16:28

Oh, someone did mention Muppets Blush

singadream · 05/09/2017 00:10

When harry met sally

RileyFinn · 06/09/2017 08:03
