I think dd would like this but all the reviews online are crap - anyone got it and think it is good?

OP posts:
MrsOverTheRoad · 19/08/2017 23:26

No...it's hard to use and soon gets discarded.

MsPassepartout · 19/08/2017 23:28

My sister had one when we were kids and it was pretty rubbish really. No idea if it's been improved since then.

Migraleve · 19/08/2017 23:35

They were crap when I had one in the 80's

They were crap when Dsis had one in the 90's

They were crap when Dneice had one in the 00's

You get the gist?

shakemysilliesout · 20/08/2017 13:29

Don't do it!! Please don't

GraceGrape · 20/08/2017 13:32

It was about 30 years ago but I received one as a much wanted Xmas gift and it was very disappointing. A bit like the chocolate lolly maker I got for DD a couple is Christmases ago....

GraceGrape · 20/08/2017 13:32

couple of

SimplyNigella · 20/08/2017 13:33

It is crap, but I guarantee if you start a thread asking who wanted one as a child and didn't get one then you will get multiple posters telling you how upset they were.

MrsDoylesTeabags · 20/08/2017 13:37

Mr frostys are shit as are buckaroo and mousetrap.

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 20/08/2017 13:38

I didn't get one and my sister did- wasn't even on her fucking list...Yeah I'm still slightly bitter....does it show?Grin

Dp got me one last year, I was very excited but it was crap.
I'd still get one for the kids if it was on the actual Christmas list as they are not that expensive but not otherwise

FiveStarService · 20/08/2017 13:41

my sister did- wasn't even on her fucking list
I think your Dsis pulled a fast one Grin

Allthelightsgoout · 20/08/2017 13:42

I was a very lucky child and received almost everything I ever asked Father Christmas for. I didn't get Mr Frosty (as Father Christmas aka my parents had seen one in action and realised it was shite) so I bought myself one in adulthood for nostalgia purposes.

It was shite. I'd have been gutted as a child on Christmas day!

purplecorkheart · 20/08/2017 13:42

I got one when I was young, a friend of my brother had one and gave it to me. It was great fun for about 20 mins and then never used it again.

Ninjakittysmells · 20/08/2017 13:42

Oh god, I got Ds mr frosty because I wasn't allowed one as a child. It sits on top of the fridge and I hate the bastard thing. It's shite! Try and resist!

PointlessUsername · 20/08/2017 13:43

Dd had wanted one for last couple of years we ended up buying a slush puppy Machine instead.

RuggerHug · 20/08/2017 14:12

Still bitter I wasted a chunk of my communion money on one. Don't bother.

shakemysilliesout · 20/08/2017 21:30

Does a nutribullet crush ice? Buy one of those

DurhamDurham · 20/08/2017 21:42

If you're any where near Durham I have one in the back of a cupboard not doing much Smile

GeillisTheWitch · 20/08/2017 21:45

DD wants the slush puppy machine. Not a chance I'm paying £60 for it though, she'll just have to keep going to the corner shop for her slushy fix.

Betsy86 · 20/08/2017 21:51

Oh darn i bought one yesterday as was on clearance in sainsburys.... Meant to put away as xmas gift but really its mainly for me as always wanted one yes i was that kid hahax

ridingsixwhitehorses · 20/08/2017 23:35

Thank you! Not on her list - I just thought she would like it. But mostly she loves a slushy so going to get a ice crusher snow cone type machine instead.

OP posts:
ZippyCameBack · 21/08/2017 00:10

We have an ice crusher snow cone thingy and it's ace! You can get sugar free syrup for it too(on either Amazon or Ebay, it's probably the same seller on both), and it's used loads for parties, when we have kids over to play, for movie nights etc.
I always wanted a Mr Slushy too and I'm glad for once that my mother disapproves of children wanting things and thinks they should never, ever be indulged.

DowntheTown · 21/08/2017 00:29

Bought one for ds5 last Xmas. Utter rubbish. Don't do it. He still enjoys filling up the lolly pop bits tho. Not as awful as modern version of mousetrap. That was exceptionally shocking and such a disappointment.
