where would you go if you wanted a little holiday between Christmas and new year, somewhere with snow, christmas trees, fairy lights etc.
ive wanted to go away for a few years now but havent been able to afford, but now things have settled down for us financially i am able to save up for next Christmas, our budget will be about £2000 so still cant afford lapland unfortunately, there will be 5 of us.

I've spent Christmas is Prague and Reykjavik - both were crisp, cold, snowy and beautiful.
Have also been to Krakow in January - lights were still up and it was lovely too.

What sort of thing are you looking for? Prague has skiing not too far away and could be made more family-friendly. Reykjavik and Krakow were probably quite grown up places to go.
