First of all, how did I never find this section? I thought I was the only one who starts shopping in June!

Ok- let's get to it. I've passed on my obsession with love of Christmas stockings to my DC. For the kids, bar one main gift, they've been the thing that Santa brings. For DH and me, the challenge of filling them up for less than £10 (including each others! Any cash left over from the "stocking budget goes towards a bottle of baileys) is always fun.

Two of the ones we use every year gave yp the ghost of Christmas past last year, so I'm crocheting new ones this year. What started as fiver has turned into ELEVEN! Why? Because the DC believe the cats should each have their own, the gerbils can share...which leaves one for the snake!!!

WtaF do I put into a stocking for a corn snake? Vera Bennet eats mice, and no way in hell am I putting a mouse into a damn stocking!

Help?

Actually, if you can throw a few ideas in for four house-cats, that would be a bonus.

Grin this has made me smile today!

A name plate for the viv, hideout, decorative ornament, a big branch to fill it, hanging vine, fancy water spray bottle?

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/06/2017 14:55

Omg...thank you! DH could whip up a name plate at work!

How lovely that your. children show compassion and GIVING to animals. I don't know where you are coming from - explaining to DD why a surprise party for the cat was not a good idea.

I should think a nice big stone or pebble wrapped up for his tank, maybe some nice twigs wrapped up. Do they make snake 'dreamies'?

AllRoadsLeadBackToRadley · 07/06/2017 15:06

KC225 we not only had a party for our cats this year...I even started a thread about them turning 6! 😂

How about a set of vouchers redeemable throughout the year:

A one-hour wander about the house
A massage
Dance round the living room
Fresh mouse not frozen

Or a dvd - Snakes on a Plane, Anaconda, Secret Life of Pets, Raiders of the lost Ark.

AllRoads welcome to the joy that is the Christmas Topic all year round. Hurrah!

Sounds fantastic! My dc insist on stockings for the animals too, and I have the annual delight of trying to find something stocking shaped to give three ducks (best option for us is a sweetie cone filled with mealworms btw).

Might a snake need a new water dish or similar?

NotAPuffin · 28/06/2017 11:33

I now need to get myself a pet snake so I can get it Snakes on a Plane for Christmas Grin

This is superb. I've never heard of a stocking for the snake before. It sounds like a Julia Donaldson problem Grin

Will no one think of the gerbils!! Poor things having to share. Could the cats get age appropriate (dc age, not 6yr age) books to be read to. Slinky Malinky for little ones to read, through those Holly Webb ones to streetcat named Bob. Our cats enjoy being read to when they are in the mood for it and dc get extra reading practice!

StrangeAndUnusual · 04/07/2017 09:00

Please tell me the animal stockings are appropriate shapes - and you're doing a super-long thin one for the snake.

We have to do stockings for cuddly toys here. Apparently it is unfair that I have given the toys very small stockings and it hurts the toys' feelings ...
