Well I've lost the chocolate coins I bought this year. No doubt I'll find them in July, so you could say I've already started my Xmas 2017 shopping.

Not to be too smug but i bought quite a lot of stocking fillers in m&s a couple of weeks ago ready for next year as there were bargains too good to miss and this years all finished !

I can't really get the kids' stuff too soon as I've no idea what they'll be into then but I will look around for other people's presents throughout the year.

Do any of you save for Xmas? And if so how much per week? Park/similar or bank account?
Would like some tips to be more organised please. As have several family November birthdays also

Definitely get them sprouts on asap. You dont want them undercooked!

I tend to save odds and ends as I go plus budget properly October pay day onwards so don't have to worry bout presents food etc or dip into January's money . Obviously if you can afford to do this deffo recommend .

Yay. Am just working through the post-Christmas lull to work out what we can ditch next year and what we need more of etc.

I have realised my handmade presents went down very well so need to start making things here and there throughout the year in order to be ready as they always take longer than I think they will!

Will go shopping in the next few days for cards, wrapping paper and gift tags etc and possibly more decorations as long as DH isn't looking

We do a £2 tin every year (I cashed it up in Nov this year, there was about £180). I do a jar for 1p/2p/5p/10p
This year I have one tin for £2 and the small change because we can use the MetroBank coin changer (doesn't charge the 8% fee that the supermarket ones do) and put it in DH account there.

Since Sainsburys cut their Nectar points by 50% , my usual Nectar rewards were less (normally £300ish, this year was £190 ) I try to build up as many bonus points as possible though.

Our fake tree is going this year, it was a panic buy about 7 years ago and every year I hate it.

I'm avoiding the sales at all costs but my DD is forcing my shopping tomorrow

that you haven't got the sprouts on yet, mine are simmering over a bain marie ready for the pomergranate and unicorn tear jous (dealing with amateurs here.... )

I'll be saving £75 a month into a savings account. I'll be aiming to have a good spreadsheet with a tight budget per person. This year I've realised it's been chaos.

I am still feeling pretty Christmassy (although my feet are killing me). We are in Disneyland Paris, got here yesterday and staying till Thursday.

DCs very excited - they are ooing and aahing at the rides, I am ooing and aahing at the Christmas lights .

I'd love to save some money each month, i think I'll definately try the change jars as well as about £50 per month. That'll probably do me as we don't buy for a huge amount of people. Would love it for just one year not to rely on my credit card to solve the problem

Sans i dont see what is wrong with trying to save money on things that have to be bought anyway? That is like berating people for changing energy suppliers to save a bit over the course of a year!
And as for sprouts ! I dont really think anyone will be boiling them on the hob all year (just think of the gas bill ha ha ). It was merely a lighthearted bit of banter.

Err.... no it's not. This thread is about a few posters who love Christmas and who look forward to it all year. We happily chatted away about all manner of things last year, and I can guarantee that the regular posters are the kindest bunch of people so you can bugger right off with your comments about consumerism because that's not what we're about at all.
