Why is it that a family member asks what the kids want, I give them I deas and then they go and buy something else which ends up neing a cheap crappy version of the main present I've bought!
Dd's opened it now so can't exactly take it off her!
Grrr, rant!

My family seem obsessed with the copy hot wheels tracks from toys r us. Yes they are cheap. No the cars don't stay on the tracks.

Why has your DD already opened her Christmas present?

I ask and am happy to buy the item.
If other people ask me I give a couple of options. Quite often this is then ignored and random tat rather than specific tat arrives nicely packaged. 🎁

Oh suburban we're at inlaw's house. We don't see them over christmas as they live a few hours away so it's nice for the kids to open presents in front of them.

They'd asked what they'd like and bought them, which is great. But also bought extra things. Which is nice of them but I don't think they realise (or think!) that other people (such as parents!) like to buy them a gifts too!.... it's the same battle every year of them buying way too much.

I've bought her a lovely wooden le toy van doctor's kit, which cost a fortune! But now she has a cheap pink crappy one from the pound shop.

I'm sure she has the capability to play with both.

The one from poundland will soon break with encouragment

I would be grateful that they've bought anything. People can't do right these days, if they hadn't anything that would be wrong, now they've bought something and that's wrong. Maybe they could only afford things from Poundland etc. I'd appreciate the thought and effort if anyone had gone out and bought for my DC's

Oh no I am grateful that they buy things. They buy many things for the kids, but this is half the battle. I know they can certainly afford good, decent stuff. But certain family members just love to shop and buy anything & everything they see, with complete disregard to what others are buying.
They're on a much higher income than I am, I have saved for months to buy this lovely gift I know dd will love, sometjing they could buy without even thinkinn of it, on a whim.
It is great that they want to buy their gc stuff, but a bit of thougjt to the others who are also buying would be nice.
