Subscription Boxes for Children

Hi,

So, I've faffed on for weeks now about Christmas gifts for friends children (none of our kids needs toys etc), but thought there was maybe some great subscription boxes out there? Crafty perhaps or vaguely educational? For 5/6 year olds, and a token 3 year old?

I thought perhaps I could buy a subscription for a few months and it's something a bit different.

Does anyone know if there's anything out there?

Toucan boxes are crafty.

The Whizz Pop Bang science magazine (not quite the same, but a similar idea) is good and has been enjoyed by my 3.

MY 3 neatly 4 year old absolutely loves her toucan boxes. Great idea for a gift imo

We get the toucan boxes and they are fab, especially great for taking to restaurants, on boring visits, etc. We've had some great makes with them.

Ds (5) is not really into crafting but is massively into animals (his only request from Santa is animal information books). One of his gifts is a national geographic kids annual subscription (bought with tesco club card vouchers.

yep my two boys not interested in the Toucan Boxes, I was more enthusiastic than them, they are good but only if your child is crafty and can sit and concentrate longer than 5 mins.

I think I'll risk the Toucan Boxes. None of the children in question needs toys, clothes etc, so I guess this is something a bit different.

I found weekend boxes to be better that toucan boxes. They usually include a growing activity, a cooking activity along with craft activities. My son loved them. He is 7.

My young 5yo has loved toucan boxes - and he's not usually into craft activities.

My 6 year old gets a curiosity box which is 3 really good but simple science experiments he loves it

IMO Weekend Boxes are better than Toucan Boxes - more varied activities

'Adventurebox' and 'storybox' are reading magazines for kids, good reviews, and you can get really cheaply with clubcard vouchers if you look on tesco deals website

Don't bother with geekbox or z box they stuff in them are shite!

Little passports are meh. You could try some of the geek child boxes

I've not tried it but there's now a Mr Maker subscription box too.

We loved toucan boxes in this house. We got them for about a year. I think they are aimed at a slightly younger age group than the weekend box. My DD could do them independently before she was 6. But she still needed help for the weekend box. They also have everything you need except for scissors which the weekend box didn't.
