Un-iced cake source?

Can't see one online. DM coming for Xmas and wants to buy us one as doesn't want to carry it on train. She has already made the marzipan and wants to ice when she comes. I can't see any decent sized un-iced ones - any ideas?

Can you not make one? This one is really easy and she can ice it when she gets to you. If she wants to pay then she can cover the ingredients?

No idea, but why don't you make one?

I've bought them from Waitrose and from Tescos. Admittedly, I haven't look this year but Im sure your u could check on line. After years of making cakes, my sister recently gave up, saying the quality of (either Waitrose or Tesco's un-iced were as good as anything she could make. Enjoy!

M&S. It's sitting alongside a ton of icing waiting for me to combine the two or just serve a chunk of icing as a side-dish The one I got is pleasingly heavy and a good size. Bigger than "needed" if I'm honest, but restraint has never been my watchword Grin

Depends what you mean by decent sized.

M&S have lenty of un iced options.

P.s. Not only can I not be arsed to bake one myself, this was cheaper than buying equivalent ingredients (since my store cupboard for that sort of baking is bare).

I've bought mine from Lidl this year. It came up well in a taste test by one of the magazines. A fraction of the price of baking from scratch. I'll still make one cake. Over the years I'd bake 7 or 8 and then get nieces and nephews round to decorate. Now I cheat.

Oh thank you. Lots of options there Smile
