Teepees

Has anyone bought their dc a teepee before? I'm thinking my nearly 2 yo dd would like one and our baby which is due in feb might like it when a bit older. But they seem to be around £100-£150+ so I was wondering if mumsnetters thought they were worth the money? We haven't bought her anything big yet but equally she will only be just two so I don't think she will mind either way! She does like dens and hiding etc though. Thanks

I made one for my DC. It's not something they played in an awful lot to be frank. It's beautiful even if I do say so myself but they're just not that bothered.

I would invest that money in a really nice wooden kitchen and play food...in my experience ALL toddlers love them...ours was universally popular with our own DC and visitors.

I'd get your DD a little "fun" tent from Toys R Us and see how she likes it. Then get a teepee next year perhaps if she uses her tent a lot.

We found that our DSs got far more use out of a cheap pop-up tent and tunnel set than a fairly expensive teepee they were given. If you want to spend more and have a a garden, how about a wooden play house? We bought one on offer last Spring and DSs who were just 1 and 3 in the summer absolutely love it. It is now acting a brilliant store for all the outside toys until next year.

Hobbycraft have decorate your own ones in, I don't think they are over £50? I bought one second hand from Ebay and it is a lovely Teepee, my daughter loves it and it looks great.

There are plenty of nice ones cheaper than £150. We have a lovely one for around £50.

We also found a pop up tent got more use.

I've just decided after quite a bit of research to get an Ikea circus tent instead.
Not as beautiful but I'm sure it'll be used more.

I got a lovely one for my daughter in the GLTC sale after looking at much more expensive ones and already having a non pop up similar to the IKEA one which was always in the way, this one just collapses easily and I put it behind the door when not in use.

I got one from habitat in the sale about 7 years ago. It's still in perfect condition and now on 3rd child so definitely got my use out of it.
