Hey everyone,

I'm after a board game for Christmas Day that is fun and easy to play for the whole family. What's your favourite game??

How old are the children?

Bolshybookworm · 02/12/2016 17:16

Sorry. Really simple but gets quite competitive! My application aunt had it when we were kids and we spent hours playing it.

Maxwellthecat · 02/12/2016 17:39

7 and twelve, oldest person in 82.

Ooh I'll check out sorry x

Dixit or Camel Up. Both fabulous games.

Tidypidy · 02/12/2016 17:49

The brain box games are good. There are lots of different topics and levels.

Labyrinth, Pictureka, Rummikub, Jenga (ok, not quite a board game)

If you fancy a fast-paced card game - Ratuki

BlueChampagne · 02/12/2016 22:36

We like Smash Up, King of Tokyo and Creature Clash (OK Creature Clash is a card game). All quick and silly.

Try www.boardgamegeek.com

Taboo is pretty fun with a large group and I think a 7 year old could play with maybe a bit of rules relaxation.

Pictionary and charades always fun

macnab · 03/12/2016 09:23

Monopoly - we have the junior edition (kids are 6 & 8) but whole family play it and it's still great fun. I'd say yours are old enough for the full version. Also not quite a board game but I've bought this bingo set to play after dinner on Christmas Day, I reckon we'll all get a good laugh out of it and very little skill required!

langlandgirl · 03/12/2016 15:53

Say it Don't Spray it, available on eBay - same as the Speak out game seen on social media. We also love Telestrations, Pictureka and Uno

RedLemonade · 03/12/2016 16:05

Cards against humanity.

(KIDDING!!!)

00100001 · 03/12/2016 16:18

You want party games. Good Ines include

Telestrations
Cash 'n' Guns
Camel Up
Accentuate
Say Anything
Wits and Wagers

00100001 · 03/12/2016 16:19

Apples to Apples for the family friendly CAH. Wink

Waterlemon · 03/12/2016 18:45

We always go back to playing uno.

We also have a dice game called "tenzi"' each round is quite fast and the rules are pretty simple, it's kinda like Yahtzee/rummy

EstelleRoberts · 03/12/2016 18:51

Not a board game, as it is a card game, but Pit is brilliant. Loads of fun for all ages, kids and older people love it alike. You will have a hoot.

winterisnigh · 03/12/2016 19:03

Dixit is good fun and we have played with ages 79 to 8 and it was fun.

Camel up also looks fun, we got it for this year not played yet but excellent reviews, I wouldn't labyrinth is fun though.

NickMarlow · 03/12/2016 19:07

Dobble. It's a faster / more complicated version of snap, and works for all ages.

Cagliostro · 03/12/2016 21:46

Yes Dobble is brilliant
There are themed versions like Star Wars and Finding Nemo available now too :o

Cagliostro · 03/12/2016 21:47

Sushi Go is not exactly silly as it is a proper game, but it's really quick, fun and the cards are cute. And it can get a bit frantic when you don't get the cards you want.

Ladydepp · 03/12/2016 21:53

We really like Qwirkle, and Dobble

SimonLeBonOnAndOn · 03/12/2016 21:58

Articulate
Rapidoough is good fun, like pictionary with play doh

00100001 · 03/12/2016 22:00

Dobble wouldn't be good if he can't handle losing, as it has direct competition. And you can lose (potentially) every turn Confused

00100001 · 03/12/2016 22:01

Wrong thread Blush

BratFarrarsPony · 03/12/2016 22:02

Get a cheap Ludo game and make your own Cluedo featuring family/friends/people from the neighbourhood.

Afishcalledchips · 03/12/2016 22:41

Labyrinth is really good, so Are Uno And Jenga. What Is Up With My Phone. Sorry
