Can you post the recipe for those of us who don't know it?

It took 2 days .cos I didn't have to rush. You can do it on the hob or in the oven.I used the hob, it's flexible but you start with chopped up quite small onions, celery, carrots, any herbs you like, 1 large clove of garlic, in a heavy saucepan and gently fry in olive oil with the top on, on a very low heat (I use a diffuser because my gas hob won't go low enough). Then add stock I used homemade but you can use good stock cube. I used tamari instead of salt' it browns it too. Then make an o
nion white sauce with rice flour in a separate pan. It's gluten free too !

You add the first veg to the white sauce and cook gently for 10 to 15 mins, till the rice flour is cooked and it's all thickened. Taste it and add more herbs if you like I put some sage in. wait for it to cool then freeze.

He didn't do it quite like me because he used chicken pieces.

I make his (very non veggie) Get Ahead gravy every Xmas, it's lovely

ppeatfruit · 02/12/2016 16:59

It's my version, I'm wheat free so I always change recipes! You can use any root veg really. Oh sorry I didn't say to put it all through a sieve after it's cooled down. Before you put it in the freezer box.

T'is lush indeed. I made it while living abroad.

It's such good idea, I did it last year and it made such a difference to dh's gravy that he leaves steaming away for hours so all the flavour is lost! Everyone preferred mine to his Xmas Grin I didn't say anything! he tries poor dear!
