Pound presents

We have a tradition on my mum's side of the family where we buy presents for the adults that are supposed to only cost £1. It's a pretty difficult challenge unless you buy chocolate every time. I wondered if anyone had any different ideas? I need to buy for 3 women aged between 53-83 and 2 men ages 55 and 58. I've bought book marks, little puzzles and candles before.

The various pound shops are full of possible presents!!!

I would look at Wilko. They have nice notebooks, pen pots, little jars of paperclips etc and nice mugs all for £1.

Also a shop called Hema, they have nice notebooks. If any children involved they have mini pots of modelling clay sets for just £1.

Card factory and the works have some good 2017 diarys for £1 too.

I like this game.

Another thing to do is look at Jewelery sale rails in high st shops, they often reduce items to £1.

I saw some cute little slippers in b&m yesterday but they were £1.49 so slightly over budget!

Primark have scented candles and water bottles for £1 and poundland have battery powered fairy lights in, I got some like little lightbulbs and they are very good.

I wish my family did this.

You never know what the pound shops will yield - I was quite tempted to pick up a remaindered copy of Tony Blairs biography as a joke present for DH the other year. And if nothing else you can always get the chocolate and some cheap giftwrap there.

glenthebattleostrich · 24/11/2016 08:34

Poundland also have some pretty scarves in and their book and DVD shelf is always worth a little look too

MollyHuaCha · 24/11/2016 08:34

Def go to Poundland. Or you might be lucky and get something in a charity shop, but prob not as round here the prices in charity shops are sky high.

Asda and Sainsburys home ranges are quite good so you may get nice mugs/kitchen bits in there.

Are Boots doing that deal on the Soap and Glory make-up set soon? I think the big one this year is the one in the case in mid Dec (according to MSE)

SymphonyofShadows · 24/11/2016 09:38

Oops, sorry. Wrong thread Blush

Juanbablo · 24/11/2016 09:51

Scratch card! I give them out with our dinner every year with the terms that if anyone wins over £50 it's shared.

insan1tyscartching · 24/11/2016 16:43

MackerelOfFact · 25/11/2016 01:01

Superdrug are selling these gift sets for £1 at the moment, they're full sized products that they usually sell for £3-4 each. I went into two stores today and both had loads. I'm going to try and go back tomorrow and get a few more to donate to the women's refuge.

Get yourself to a Home Bargains. You should have plenty choice for £1. Off the top of my head there are Marvel Heroes socks for 79p. Ceramic gnomes plant waterers for £1.
