What age is too old for a doll?

My 9 and 10 year old daughter have had for those. 'Our generation' dolls for Xmas and was wondering would you consider this too old to play with dolls or am I being silly? Should I just get them the dolls they've asked for ?

DD2 will be 10 just before Christmas and she still loves her dolls, particularly Our Generation, so she'll be getting some new OG stuff. I've had the same reservations as you but I've decided to follow her lead. She gets into really involved, elaborate games with them nowadays which I'm sure helps her creative writing development. Also, DD1 certainly wouldn't admit it to her friends but she was still playing with dolls in secret until she turned 12!

If they asked then they're not too old.

If anyone is interested in Lottie dolls then they have several reduced to £9.99 at present. I want the fossil hunter one for me.

There is no upper age limit for wanting a doll.

She had different series, I think medieval, Tudor, Victorian etc. TBH I never appreciated it when I was a kid (lots of time being dragged round doll fairs etc which I HATED) but now I'm like WOW they actually are amazing :o mum did the sculpting in clay then dad would make moulds for resin, and make the stands, and mum made the costumes.

Actually the one sale I remember clearly was to a nearly-13yo who just fell in love with the one mum based on Louise brooks (famous flapper) and her parents got it for her as her birthday present.

My daughter is 9 and she loves her dolls.

She's asked for one of those creepy life like dolls for Christmas.

My mum ridiculed her saying she's too old and I was furious! She's 9, and what's the rush for her to grow up, I'd rather she play with dolls than an iPad!

I'm going to get her the doll she's asked for, even though they're £60 Shock and hope no one judges me as they are a bit creepy!

I've just ordered a Lottie doll for my 3 year old off the back of this thread, and I'd already finished my shopping!! Damn you!

If they have asked for them then definitely not too old! Gosh, I was still playing with barbie dolls at 14!

My eldest (14) has asked for a doll although not a play doll as such (like the Baby Bjorns or Barbie or American Girl dolls) - it is a Ball Jointed Doll and she is so excited, looking forward to choosing clothes etc for it!

This is the kind of thing I'm thinking about for DD's 10th next summer if she still likes dolls

I ordered from the Lottie website but I have not received any despatch notification. I'm in the uk.. does anyone know how long this is likely to take to receive?

i think it depends on the child. mine are nearly 11 and 12 and havent played with dolls for at least a couple of years. they are not into toys. i dont think i have bought them any toys (other than plushies) for christmas, they asked for laptops so i got them. they have bath bomb making kits, a dvd, computer game etc. they like to play outside quite a bit, like making things, but not really into toys now.

I got an order confirmation email from Lottie, but not a dispatch one. I ordered a couple of months back so don't really remember but must have been within a week I think.

I've ordered a Lottie doll for my 4 yr old God daughter.

For what it's worth i played with dolls until I was about 12 and definitely had my last new one around then.
