Advent Calendars for a Teenager

I would love to get my 16 yo DD a nice advent calendar. She would love a cosmetic one but is aware that they can be costly and I am not prepared to spend a huge amount. Any ideas?

You may be too late
Lots of the best advent calendars have already sold out

JemimaMuddledUp · 13/11/2016 17:02

I got my DD a Ciate nail varnish one from TK Max which wasn't that expensive. I think Ciate actually have a flash sale on them this weekend.

PotteringAlong · 13/11/2016 17:03

If you spend £30 in M&S you can get their beauty one for £30 (I think)

Nanasueathome · 13/11/2016 17:05

It's £35 spend plus £35 for the M&S advent calendar
Not sure if it would be suitable for a 16 year old though
Would think more Benefit type for that age group

JemimaMuddledUp · 13/11/2016 17:05

Ooh wow, just looked and the Ciate one is still £40 (down from £50). I paid £10 for DD's! She has no idea how lucky she is...

WuTangFlan · 13/11/2016 17:14

Prezzybox one?

Or Tesco have Yankee Candle ones for £20 (on 3 for 2 at the mo).

IminaPickle · 13/11/2016 17:15

Are you near a Tiger? I spent £40+ another £20 in Primark and have enough quite useful stuff, actually crap for 4 advent calendars.
Teenage DDs at University have tights, socks, pants, lots of baubles and chocolates, spices and 2x new £5 notes each and I also bought 2 boxes with doors on I'm going to fill with gum, sweets boxers etc. for DH and DS.

iminapickle your advent bags look lovely! Can I ask where you got the mini brown bags and number heart stickers?

Mindtrope · 13/11/2016 17:52

Thanks everyone. The best value one looks like the Jack Will, but I have decided that even that is too indulgent for a 16 yo. She is a lovely giving individual, but gets new shoes every 6/8 weeks atm costing £80 a pop. So maybe just a chocolate advent.

I got my Dd and ds the Lindt chocolate one at £5 as it has a chocolate reindeer, chocolate Santa plus other smaller sweets. There is a bigger £10 too that has more of the hollow figures

PoochiePoo · 13/11/2016 17:59

If you have a Beauty Outlet near you, they have some cosmetic ones for around the £10-£15 mark

dementedpixie · 13/11/2016 17:59

£5

£10

fuzzywuzzy · 13/11/2016 18:01

I got dd's one from studio, a cosmetic one and a charm bracelet one. They weren't expensive. No idea about quality

blackhairbrush · 13/11/2016 18:06

I don't think you need to spend a lot of money, DC (20 & 18) are delighted with their Minion chocolate advent calendar (£2 from WH Smith).

TheGirlWithGlassFeet · 13/11/2016 20:11

Superdrug have some beauty ones from £8 that look nice.

iknowimcoming · 13/11/2016 20:32

I got my dd a bomb cosmetics one for £16 contains bath bombs and mini soaps if that helps?

fitflop · 13/11/2016 20:38

I got my DD the Tanya Burr one for her birthday at the end of October so she's already opened it - she loved having a little something to open every day for 12 days! It was £15 from Superdrug and for that I think it was really good value (but is only for 12 days) The other one which looked nice if she likes perfume is the Ghost one also from Superdrug.

fitflop · 13/11/2016 20:40

But the Ghost was quite a bit more at £25 (I think).

IminaPickle · 13/11/2016 22:05

happsymum thanks! The whole 'kit'- bags, stickers, candy canes and sweets and ornaments came from Tiger. I added another £20 of tights socks flannels etc. from Primark.
Self catering DD who's has spices measuring spoons and garlic in her one 😂

HateMrTumble · 13/11/2016 22:27

Cadburys have some great ones...

TheBitterBoy · 13/11/2016 22:41

Accessorize do a cute one with a bracelet and 22 charms for it and a necklace for £15

Poppiesway · 13/11/2016 23:07

Ds1 (18) has the Lego advent one (boys!!)
Ds2 not into Lego or chocolate so I e made him one (well my mums followed a Pinterest pattern and quilted him one and I've wrapped little bits for each day to fill it..

FoxInABox · 15/11/2016 11:18

I've bought the revolution make up one from Superdrug (it was £25 as star gift but is back to £30, still a good price as full size make up), it looks great, my 17 yr old DNiece wants one now too. Oos at the moment but keeps coming back in so worth doing stock alert for.
