Cheaper GoPros?

I'm struggling with what to get DS1 this year, it's his 13th birthday next week and that's been hard enough to sort out!!

I was thinking of getting him something similar to a GoPro, can anyone recommend one?

yes exactly that. We have been looking at some and the reviews are terrible. My DS is going to buy this with his pocket money so I am keen that he not buy a lemon, but neither can he afford a proper gopro!
