Just spotted the first fully trimmed up house of the year! Grin
Fairy lights in all the windows, huge tree and winter scene with little houses on the windowsills.
Cue 8 year old asking when are we putting ours up!

We once had Christmas in March but we only put out crackers and a few decorations where no one outside could see Xmas Blush. DSis had missed Christmas in hospital so this was a surprise.
1st weekend in December here normally.

NotAPuffin · 21/10/2016 13:01

Second weekend in December for the non-tree decorations in our house, third weekend for the tree. I find the novelty wears off too soon if we do it too early.

We haven't even put up our Halloween graveyard yet.

Voteforpedr0 · 21/10/2016 13:12

Too early for sure, once bonfire night is over and done with i do get a warm glow from within seeing a twinkling tree in someone else's window. That said it's December 1st for us as I like our home to be festive for the dc whilst they have their Xmas activities at school. Many forces families where one parents on deployment over the Christmas period like to have their own December 25ths whenever they can manage, which I think is bloody marvellous.

ItchyFoot · 21/10/2016 13:17

I love Christmas but that is way too early! Surely part of the magic is that it's for a limited time. As a child my parents would put the tree up exactly 12 days before Christmas. Dp insists on putting it up on December first but really that's for me as he knows how much I love it.

Flumplet · 21/10/2016 13:17

No not until 1 December in our house (or weekend closest to it).

MoonfaceAndSilky · 21/10/2016 13:55

Our next door neighbour still has her Christmas leaf decoration thingy on the front door, from last year Xmas Shock

I saw someone with their Halloween decorations up the other day and thought they were barmy.

Don't be too quick to judge. We put our tree up very early in November when we were told it would be my DH's last Christmas. His hospital bed was in the sitting room and he loved looking at the lights twinkling away in the corner. He didn't make it to Christmas so I was glad we put it up early.

I'd happily never put it up again (he'll be 3 years gone soon) but have to for the kids.

There are fairy lights in the neighbour's window all of a sudden. I'm scared to look but I probably will

RuskBaby · 21/10/2016 16:27

Ours is going up next weekend, pfb due in November so once it's done baby can make their appearance anytime they like - sooner the better!

My tree will go up the 1st week of November. Aside from Christmas, DD2 has a November birthday and DD1 is a Christmas Day baby so I love having the tree up early. DH thinks I'm crazy but has learned to indulge me Blush

Star2015 · 21/10/2016 19:00

I have my Halloween decorations up! Christmas ones will go up the first week of December Smile

LineyReborn · 21/10/2016 19:02

If they don't do this every year, it could be for a particular reason.

anyoldname76 · 21/10/2016 19:04

1st december for us, i put them up a week before that one year and even that felt too early for me Grin but i dont care when anyone else put theirs up, i like seeing the lights

OhTheRoses · 21/10/2016 19:31

No! Friday 16th December. A little early this year. Hate it more than a week in advance. The baubles need dusting before 6th Jan.

gillybeanz · 21/10/2016 19:34

I find it spoils it if they are up soon, about 14/16 is normal for us.
I too know a family who celebrate early for sad reasons, so don't judge now if I see a few up at different times of the year.

SweepTheHalls · 21/10/2016 19:38

How does the hobby craft felt tree attach to the wall?

SpringerS · 21/10/2016 21:48

They are probably Halloween lights.

That tree is aces. Did you buy it instore? How much was it? I can see it on the website if I google for it but it's saying it's out of stock.

namechangedjustforchristmas · 21/10/2016 22:28

It has a bit of string at the top and I just stuck a drawing pin in the wall and hooked it on that.
It was £6 which I think is really good value. I picked it up in store and it was the last one left. That's why I got it on Wednesday as I was worried they would sell out. We were debating what to do re: the tree. I want a real one but not hugely practical with a baby. Saw the felt one and I thought it was perfect, ds3 can arrange and rearrange as much as he likes, then we will get a real 3ft tree to put on a side table closer to the big day

TheFuckitBuckit · 22/10/2016 09:55

Loads of people round here were really early last year with trees and decorations (throughout November) so mine were late in comparison - first week of December. Before then is too early for me.

My neighbours have Theirs up first week in November usually around bonfire night.

Ilovenannyplum · 22/10/2016 10:00

People that put trees up in October are bonkers, November is also complete madness Hmm

Cloeycat · 22/10/2016 10:01

We put ours up the last weekend in november. As we live away from both families we are normally traveling from about the 16th of Dec till after New Years so like to get them up in time to enjoy them for a few weeks!

ItchyFoot · 22/10/2016 12:16

I may have just added my name to the email list for when that hobbycraft tree is back in stock.... Dp thinks I'm nuts.
