How do I wrap/give them the trampoline?

So, in my wisdom way back in January/February I decided to get our DC a trampoline as a joint present for Christmas. It has sat under my bed ever since in its box. It has now dawned on me, I don't have a bloody clue how to give it to them.

So do me and DH spend Chrismas eve out in the back garden putting it together probably in pissing rain wrap the boxes and let them open it or.........

DC are 6 and 4 if that makes any difference.

We did this last year.
It is a massive trampoline too!
We had some guys come over and put it together on 23rd. DH has stuck newspapers/closed the curtains that overlooked that part of the garden.
We obviously have the worlds most un-curious/un-observant kids as they never even asked about the newspapers or anything!
DS2 had to be deferred from going out to practice footy but otherwise all went well.
After they had opened all their pressies etc we told them there was another gift in the garden, so funny as they stood outside back door going "What is it? Where?"
Eh, the massive flipping trampoline behind you,.
They loved it!

I would put it together just before (Xmas eve) and unveil Xmas morning! Nothing worse than receiving a gift you can't use because it needs putting together!

It will definitely be ready for them to use Christmas morning the neighbours are going to love us, we are the only one with kids. DC bedroom overlooks the garden, putting paper etc over the windows won't work with them, they are really nosey . The one I got was 10ft.

Maybe I will find some jobs inside that must be done Christmas Eve and DH can put it together. You watch it bloody snow now

We assembled ours the night before their birthday. Tied balloons and happy birthday banner to trampoline (now at scrap yard)

I must say I have excelled myself this year eldest dc birthday is the 28.12 and she is getting a bike. DH must be cursing me I am going to get balloons and ribbon for that.

I will never forget the year we put a trampoline together at 11pm in the snow on christmas eve. It wasn't fun, but it was great for the kids when it appeared like magic.

We put a bow around ours. I had tried to put balloons on but they burst overnight. The kid's loved it though.

We made a bow for ours by cutting two plastic table cloths in half lengthways and joining together with double sided tape (the big thick rolls you can get in aldi/Lidl from time to time are best. Then tie bow as normal and puff it out.
It wasn't hard to put together but do read the manual before hand. even just to be sure of having the right size spanner etc
All that said if your kids might enjoy helping daddy assemble it on Christmas Day while you watch the happy domestic scene unfold silently from the warm side of the window and sip your warm mulled wine.

Have just discussed told DH that it will be a Christmas Eve job he's happy like fuck to do it as long as they don't have loads of other stuff to put together on Christmas Eve as well.

Now I just need to work out a plan so that he doesn't wake DD's whilst trying to put it together.

I did this one Christmas...I left a treasure map outside th kids bedroom door leading to the trampoline...they still remember the map years later...they were 6 and 4 when I did it...

I would definitely put it together before Christmas Day so not only are they wowed but they can rush straight on it and have a go. Nothing worse than opening a box that has a trampoline in it when all you want to do is get on and bounce. Would definitely check instructions out beforehand to make sure it will be quickish job on Christmas Eve - different level but I never realised how long large playmobile took to assemble until Christmas Eve that became Day 4 years ago ! Are there any it's you could please le and hide in garage ? How have they not found it by now ?
Amazing present - jealous as DH has banned us getting one

When I was given a bike one year as a child my dad tied the end of a cotton reel to the bike, unrolled it all over the house then when i had unwrapped other presents gave me the reel and asked me to donhim a quick favour and reel it all back in.. still remember how it felt to find a completely unexpected bike at the end of that cotton!

When I was younger my mum and dad bought Me and my sister a swing set and a slide for Christmas. They went in the neighbours garage until Christmas Eve and then were assembled once we'd gone to bed.

On Christmas morning we went downstairs in our pjs and felt cold. My dad looked in the living room and told us to get there quickly and see what Santa had done. Santa had left the french doors open but taped paper across the gap. We were told to rip it down and tada!!! Garden present.

BeaLola its in boxes under my bed surrounded by crap other stuff.

We don't have a garage or know anyone with one close by. We have an outdoor shed thingy but it's full of crap and DD's bike (still in its box for her birthday).

I love the treasure map idea and some of the other ideas, gutted we don't have patio doors now!

I don't mean to laugh about the playmobile present taking hours one year DDs were given a lovely play kitchen not by us, thankfully and it took forever to put it together, the whole of Christmas Eve was a right off I vowed not to make that mistake again...... fast forward to the trampoline

I'm so excited this is the first Christmas we have spent at home just the 4 of us - we normally do the traveling here there and everywhere.

I have gone a little OTT this year and have managed to build up a Disney Christmas in my head everyone WILL enjoy it or else

Can you go OTT at Christmas ? This is my 5th year as a Mummy as DS arrived at 4.5 and I am trying to get all the bits I feel he didn't have from 0-4 in as well ! We do a version of elf of the shelf , have special traditions we have created together as a family etc etc - I'm definitely an overgrown kid that needs to grow up but it is s magical and special and I'm aware that soon he may not want to join in it all as he grows up. But whilst he loves it why not have the magic .

I'm Christmas mad, I would have it 365 days a year if I could. I started Christmas shopping in January and I'm all done. Because DD's birthday is the 28/12 we cut Christmas short so it feels like she was a separate birthday. We always have a party for her in her actual birthday too, the parents are always pleased to drop their kids and run can't think why
