Ideas to fill out DS(8) Xmas sack

Hello,

My DS who has recently turned 8 has been hinting for an Xbox one for Xmas or a summer house to hold all his Lego 😆 But the summer house won't be happening! I've bought him an Xbox one using my parks vouchers. Im really struggling to think of things to bulk out the sack that don't cost that much. It used to be so much fun when he was young as I could fill it with plastic toys and he would be delighted!

So far I've bought:
Xbox one game
Pokemon go watch thing
Pikachu teddy
Dan TDM pjs
You tube heroes figure.

He loves Lego, but I've just bought him a load Of ninjago Lego for his birthday and we are bursting at the seams with the stuff. Plan to get him a board game and maybe a Pokemon book. But they are all quite small items so far.

I was just wondering if anyone has the same problem or any ideas for me?

Lego base boards? Wilko had some cheap ones last Christmas, I imagine they would have them again.

What about star wars DVDs and encyclopaedia?

Ds got a volcano making kit at that age and loved it. Oh and also lots of spy stuff - invisible ink, walkie talkies, voice changer, binoculars, torch.

Also a nice fleecy blanket?

Is the sack literally a sack? Is it instead of a stocking or instead of wrapped presents under the tree or both? (Other families Christmas traditions always look bonkers - I'm sure mine would to do to you too!)

Annuals are cheap and large. There will be a Lego one, a Pokemon one and possible a DanTDM one too.

A whole series of books from somewhere cheap like the book people or the works usually only costs about a tenner and is big. And hopefully both educational and fun. . If he's not a big reader then something funny and illustrated like Tom Gates might go down well.

A big box of unhealthy cereal that you wouldn't normally buy.

An emoji cushion- about £4 on eBay.

Don't buzz the wire game, bath set, new dressing gown.

A flannel, 'grown up' shower gel? Travel pillow for long car Journeys maybe...Dressing gown and pj's? Hair product.

Stuff he'll need, but nicer/cooler versions then normal. So socks/undies/stationary/PJ's/t-shirts/hat/gloves/scarf/etc.

I usually buy multi-packs of socks and pants then wrap each pair individually sometimes in different shapes, just for added hilarity
I have also been known to wrap the odd piece of fruit (pineapple dressed as a snowman anyone?)

They get their main presents too, but I can't afford much for them, so in previous years have needed to be inventive and to be fair, the funny wrapped fruit has been a huge hit! Its one of the things they talk about long after the plastic tat has ended up in the bin.

Somerville it's a Santa sack made of a velour material something like the pic attached. I put his Santa presents in there and family presents under the tree. His stocking is so small it doesn't hold much. It's funny how everyone does it so differently.

He isn't in to football and I got a huge bundle of books off gumtree including diary of wimpy kid, Tom gates etc which is perfect for him. My DS really loves the Temple Run series of books of anyone is looking for ideas for their DC.

I got my 7 year old pokemon cards in a gift tin super cheap from Ali Express

Variet pack of Kellogg's cereal goes down well as a filler here.

You can get last year's annuals for 1p and postage from Amazon, so about £2.50 normally. Just search 2016 annual and have a look. Nice big books good for bulking out.

Do you wrap the gifts in the sack? That might give you potential to bulk things up. You could use bubble wrap on one or two things (the jumbo bubbles are popular in my house) or put some things in gift boxes with shredded tissue.
A helium balloon floating out of the top of the sack might be fun. My eight year old is quite young still and would enjoy that kind of nonsense but maybe yours us too mature?
Emoji and poo cushions are very popular as well as cheap and bulky.
Primark always have fun character or animal slippers near Christmas.
I don't know if a large bag of popcorn or crisps would be appropriate? Or something like a nerf gun - I've seen those discounted recently but can't think where.
TK Max are great for bulky Lego books if he likes them.
Would he like a space hopper thingy like this
Pound shops always have stuff like huge tubes of sweets and giant lollipops with twenty small lollies inside.
Or a money box - you can get tin can ones about the size of a baby formula tin.
If he's into science Tk maxx and Smyths have microscopes, telescopes and science sets.
Poundshops often have giant inflatable toys. We have a crocodile one and a dolphin taking up space and getting under my feet and just begging me to prick them that would definitely bulk out a sack!

Op, you mind me asking what the Pokemon go watch thingy is? Sounds right up my ds street!

I'm in the exact same situation so watching for ideas. My son is 8 (9 in Feb) and is getting an Xbox one for Xmas so has been told he will not be receiving much else but he has 2 younger sisters so feel bad they will have more of a bundle. I have explained his is more expensive so he does understand why he won't get as much.
So far I have got him trainers on sale that I would normally have just gave him but he is getting them wrapped up lol same with a new outfit for Xmas with underwear.
I also got him Some things from Aliexpress cheap like - Pokemon cards (75 for £3.40) , Five Nights at Freddys hoodie (£7), pokeball (£1.30) with figures (24 for £2 odd) Pokemon projector watch that I think is one you said you've got.
Got him 2 small Lego boxes as same as your son mine has so much already he really doesn't need more but in the recent Argos 3 for 2 I got him the mighty micros box at £7 each robin vs bane and hulk vs Ultron.
He is getting a boxset of books called Alex rider , £10 at the works.
I'm gng to get him modelling clay with tools I saw some cheap sets on Amazon. Lumi dough and air dry ones both around £2 or so and tools £3.

All these things are quite cheap but when wrapped up will look like more.
In his stocking I have bought him different blind bags, bubblegum from pound shop, hulk Pez with extra Pez sweets.
There is a new diary of a wimpy kid book out on the 1st Nov so if he doesn't buy it himself with pocket money then I will get that for him.
Have a look on Aliexpress for cheaper things.

Watching with interest as I do the same! the kids presents are wrapped in their sacks.
problem is DD2 is a toddler so her boxes of plastic stuff bulk it out easily, but im struggling with DD1 (also 8)
need some cheep token gifts that come in big boxes!
totally for me, as I like seeing the sack all full - im sure she'd be ok as she knows hers cost more but its my parent guilt that likes keeping them kind of even!
