I've just been clearing out some cupboards and I've found a few old comics from 1991. If you pm me with your address I'll post them to him (if you want)

I've a daughter who loves the Beano. We've no room for any more though. It's a good idea to pass them on. I was thinking of keeping some of ours and passing them on to dd's teacher for wet playtimes as I remember reading comics when I was at school at wet play.

ScaredAboutTheFuture · 26/09/2016 20:55

YES PLEASE!!!!

my son is 13yrs and loves them!!

I was coming on to say I still love the Beano. DH buys me the annual every year and then I pass it onto DD when I'm done.

Do they still do a weekly comic? And if so do they still do the odd free gift of a polystyrene boomerang or a giant drumstick lolly?

Sorry for the hijack - Good luck finding a home for your comics Gatekeeper. I'm sure someone will snap them up.

RootTeeToot · 26/09/2016 22:30

Yes Fish they do. Dd got a polystyrene plane a few weeks ago. It had the face of Gnasher.

FeelingSmurfy · 26/09/2016 22:30

I probably read them the first time round Smile

Very kind of you

The beano is being relaunched! And the annual is the biggest selling annual every year.

The things you learn eh??

Mamatallica · 27/09/2016 06:35

My niece loves the Beano, we still have some of DHs old comics in the garage. I'm shocked at the price of the modern ones though.

Gatekeeper · 27/09/2016 08:02

I wasn't being sexist in the title, just incase someone thought that. I remember reading a post on one of Reasties Christmas posts where someone was asking for Beano ideas as their son was mad on the comic

There aren't many but thought it would be nice to compare storylines and illustration styles.

ME ME ME!!!

ScaredAboutTheFuture · 27/09/2016 08:18

I have messaged you. My son has ASD so he reads them over and over again until they literally fall apart.

Gatekeeper · 27/09/2016 09:15

oh sorry Scared ...on phone so didn't see the message alert thing- let me know your address and I'll bung them in the post. I have two editions of The Phoenix comic as well; do you want me to put those in? No adverts and they are a good read

can I also recommend these annuals for him Scared- they are reprints of old strips and are fab. MUCH, much better than modern stuff and are actually funny (I was reading these belonging to my son in bed the other night)
