Anyone bought a kano computer?

Looking into getting a kano computer for ds1 (8) but I don't know whether it's worth the money over a raspberry pi. DH is a developer and I'm pretty techy too so having something techy isn't a problem, just wondered whether the kano package was worth it, as the price is quite steep. Looking forward to seeing what version two will be like, which is being released tomorrow.

We bought a Kano computer and (while its still early days), I think I would be tempted to buy a Raspberry Pi and download the Kano OS (which you can for free).
A Raspberry Pi in a case with a speaker and a wireless keyboard running the OS would be indistinguishable after the 1st set up.

I think the OS is great and is probably cross- funded by the cost of the Kano.

That's good feedback, and what I wondered about. Thanks. They have some interesting new peripherals too which look more worth spending the money on than the fancy case.

My colleague is a raspberry pi fanatic. He says the Kano is good but you're paying for the courseware more than anything else and you can build something a lot cheaper.
