What to do for lunch some family have suggested a family gathering of 30 ppl I'm not sure I want to with being due that day

I was due Xmas eve, but baby arrived 22nd and we were home the next day. We made no commitments to anyone and said we'd see how we felt on the day. I stocked the freezer with an M&S Christmas dinner that we could shove in the freezer if we decided to stay out home regardless of whether baby arrived. As it happened we went to a large fsmiky gathering despite baby only being a couple of days old and it was lovely. Lots of family on hand to bring you food and drink, and help with baby, no washing up to do, etc. and the option of having a nap in the spare room. Everyone was very understanding but I realise it's not for everyone and had the birth being difficult or I wasn't well then i would gave stayed at home. Don't commit to anything, just see on the day.

You need to sit on a sofa and have food brought to you. In your Jim jams.

That was my due date but DD arrived a week before. We went to my parents' but to be honest it was a bit of a blur and I think if have been happier at home with a ready meal! I would have your freezer stocked and not commit to much! Congratulations

Dd was due Xmas eve. I made Xmas lunch as usual. She arrived new years eve!

I was due 18th, we made no plans for Christmas at all apart from stocking up with nice M&S food that was easy to cook just in case. As it turned out I went into hospital on Christmas Eve, DS was born 27th and we came home 28th. So Christmas was a total non event! Finally used the Christmas food in early Jan I think!

Doh didn't mean to post twice

I was due on the 15th but he didn't turn up til the 29th! We stayed at home and inlaws came over and got in the way.

Ds was due xmas eve, we made no plans, were very vague when asked about plans. He arrived on his due date, so good thing we hadn't made commitments other than bringing some cheese...
Didn't care about xmas day much, celebrated later.
Say maybe now so you can say yes or no later?

I was due and born on Christmas day, dm cooked dinner and had a normal Christmas day, put my two older siblings to bed and went into labour I was born at home just before midnight so no disruption whatsoever

I'm due Christmas Day too! I posted asking the same thing if you look on the next page, there were lots of good ideas and experiences.

I was due Christmas day and so we were vague on making plans for Christmas and a without really thinking about it, said if we were around we'd go to DPs parents.

DD was born on the 22nd and I was home on the 24th and so on Christmas day we ended up going to DPs parents as they were stressing we couldn't stay at home alone and had said we would go pre-DD. We just went along with plans and with hindsight at 3 days post emcs that was too much and if I had to do it again, I'd stay home and not bother about a Christmas meal and focus on me and DP and DD am still cross about it now 6 years later with bad memories of being cajoled into having a drink and playing board games when feeling completely out of it with tiredness and generally confused and wanting to be at home We spent boxing day in bed and it was lovely!

DD1 was due at Christmas but arrived on New Year's Eve instead! As long as your not expected to host the gathering I would go along! It could be a good distraction if you go over and because of your 'condition' no one will be offended if you slip off early - win win

If it's nearby and no one will whinge if you get tired and head off early, go. Otherwise, it's too much hassle.
