All year, DS (7) has wanted a magic wand. He has been running around shouting "Expelliarmus!" with chopsticks, bits of twig, etc. "Magic wand" was his automatic answer to any question about what he wants for Christmas.

So I bought him a fabby magic wand for Christmas, about 3 weeks ago. It's all wrapped up, ready to go under the tree from Santa.

And I happened to buy the Pirates of the Caribbean (first one) DVD as a treat.

This morning he announces "I don't like Harry Potter any more, I hope Santa doesn't bring me a wand for Christmas, I want a sword like Captain Jack's".

Dammit dammit dammit.

swedishmum · 21/12/2006 16:33

Woolworth's had lots of Captain Jack swords earlier this week. I've bought loads of Pirate stuff for dd1 from Disney shop. She's 13 though!

corrina28 · 21/12/2006 16:34

asda have loads aswell.

mammaduck · 21/12/2006 16:46

You could hope he might approach the wand laterally and sometimes use it as a wand, sometimes as a sword?

Good Luck

My ds1 (8) has just given me a list today of presents he wants from santa.

shed
pea shooter
catapult

forget it.

PeachyIsNowAChristmasFruit · 21/12/2006 17:16

Tell him to use the wand to magic himself up ohne

Caroligula · 21/12/2006 17:18

LOL.

Have just been on the phone to my sister and luckily she's bought him a pirate outfit, complete with plaits (?) and a sword.

Phew.

Christmas is saved.

they are so fickle, but they can fickle back - once he ses it and everyone goes 'wow, don't turn me into a frog' he will lov harry again!

JollyOldSaintNikkielas · 21/12/2006 19:31

plaits ??????

Caroligula · 21/12/2006 19:34

Yes I'm a bit puzzled by plaits. Does Captain Jack have them or something? He's got funny little swingy things in his hair hasn't he, but I've never looked too closely (too busy drooling stupidly to observe properly).

the outfit comes with a bandana with a few dreadlock type extensions attached, and since I have studied Captain Jack Sparroew extensively in POTC2 . he does indeed have similar hair

Katherine · 22/12/2006 11:38

Surely the solution is to have a harry potter day - let him watch all the films again and get all enthusiastic again then wait for the "I don't like captain jack anymore I hope....... Santa brings me an owl for christmas!"

swedishmum · 22/12/2006 11:46

Personally if I found Captain Jack in my stocking on Christmas morning it would really brighten my day.

DarrellRivers · 22/12/2006 14:26

Crikey, it would cheer me up too
might have to put in last minute santa request

kickassangel · 22/12/2006 17:44

mmm, jack sparrow, mmm
