I love blue lights, especially when combined with green.

lljkk · 06/12/2015 22:42

I like primary colours best, but only the white strand was working this yr (oops!)

OhJustGetOnWithIt · 06/12/2015 22:42

Either as long as they don't fucking flash.

NellyTimes · 06/12/2015 23:05

Multi-coloured. White ones are about as exciting as an ordinary light bulb.

BertieBotts · 06/12/2015 23:12

Multi! We used to have both when I was a child and I always thought the white ones were boring.

I'm not keen on blue though, it makes your vision go weird and blurry.

Wagglebees · 07/12/2015 01:58

I like warm white on the tree. Although I still love coloured lights on other peoples.

Do not like bright blue ones at all, it's like having a police car parked in your living room. Not keen on the bright white ones either the light they give off is too cold and harsh for me personally.

Wagglebees · 07/12/2015 02:00

This is what I mean by warm white.

Wagglebees · 07/12/2015 02:03

Argh. Can't load anymore images today. You'll know what I mean anyway. Xmas Smile

ColdTeaAgain · 07/12/2015 02:04

Warm white or multi coloured.

Bright/icy white just don't give that festive cosy look. Blue can just fuck off.

Heavenscent86 · 07/12/2015 12:03

Saw the best lights on a Christmas tree yesterday that switched between warm white and multicoloured. Anyone know where they might be from or what they are as my internet searches have proved fruitless?

RatOnnaStick · 07/12/2015 13:46

I bought some multicoloured lights this year to replace the aging warm white ones (also new tree, new lights). Put them on, lit them, took them off again. Too, too harsh for my liking. Went back to the old ones. Multi ones are sitting forlornly in the box while I decide where to put them or to donate them somewhere.

Wagglebees · 07/12/2015 13:59

Heaven You sure it wasn't two sets of lights just flashing in turn? Just checking in case you end up searching forever for them.

Pengweng · 07/12/2015 14:25

We had to buy new ones this year and i wanted white but lost out to coloured to the DTs and DH.

Heavenscent86 · 07/12/2015 15:04

Hi wagglebees. It definitely wasn't that. I checked because that was my first thought but after searching so much I'm starting to think I'm imagining things lol. Maybe that's the way to go though to create that effect on my tree x

Wagglebees · 07/12/2015 15:31

Heaven They do sound good. I'd like to know where they're from too. If I come across them whilst online shopping today I'll let you know. 🎅🏻

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 07/12/2015 15:34

I've given the multi-coloured lights a whirl this year based on your comments so far, thanks! I'm not 100% sold on them but the DC's are delighted so they're staying on Xmas Grin They're a bit Las Vegas for me but I remember being fascinated by the coloured lights in my parents' home as a 70's kid too!

The white lights I usually use are not warm white. I agree that the warmer glow is nicer but I just didn't notice when buying mine a few years ago. I'll just find a temporary home for the white ones this year (stuff them inside a glass vase or inside a large lantern).

Does anyone rate red lights? I've got some wrapped on the garland over the fireplace. Only did it last year because the original white lights died on it and I happened to have a spare set of red cherry bulbs. I really like it (and it saved me going out and buying a new garland).

Warm white here, although I have very fond memories of coloured lights as a child in the 80s.

Might revamp my colour scheme next year and get some coloured lights then.

Wagglebees · 07/12/2015 15:58

I think I quite like red ones. Probably more on a garland or wreath than all over a tree.

Heavenscent86 · 07/12/2015 16:00

Thanks wagglebees. I'll also let you know if I should manage to find any.

MargotLovedTom · 07/12/2015 16:07

Warm white. Liked the old fashioned coloured lights but new ones have that hideous blue. I've had the red berry lights and I do like them, but too many and your living room starts to resemble a brothel.

VulcanWoman · 07/12/2015 16:09

Does it say warm white on packet or is a store display visit required.

VulcanWoman · 07/12/2015 16:11

Grin brothel. I have the red berry lights on my tree, it looks a bit bloody.

Wagglebees · 07/12/2015 16:47

I'm half way through my tree lights and I've given up. Two sets have half the lights out and the full set I have only does half the tree and look wonky now I've set down.

Doesn't help that I'm allergic to pine. 🙄

haggisaggis · 09/12/2015 16:43

Heavenscent - could it have been a prelit tree like this one?

amazonianwoman · 09/12/2015 21:59

Warm white only and no flashing
